USA Woman just par for the course.

We have all seen this coming. Clearly they have done a great job of being the top dogs for quite a while but the truth is the field has not been level for this time. The majority of country had women cooking and plowing the fields instead of playing sports. Now that girls are actually allowed to play the field is much more equal and you see what you get. Much more competition.
Something else of note we in the country play for results at most ages. So instead of learning to the art of the game and the details of the game we just learn to boot and shoot and hope for the best. While other countries place a high emphasis on learning the game at the early ages.
Its essentially the perfect storm and one that wont be reversed just because of the system we have in place which values Money first and then only winning and not teaching.
    Oh Well

For the record they can still win this tournament if its a thing for you.

These whores suck. Why they don't just let the MF Shore 09 girls play in their place is beyond me. Our girls are #1 in the country, and RT is a far better coach than Vlatko Andonovski. What a loser team.

It was only a matter of time. Globally female soccer acceptance got off to a very slow start. Cultural differences. Now that this has shifted, Europe will continue to gain and even surpass US women’s soccer. The European model continues to expose the flaws in US Soccer.

In europe, soccer is for the masses and they have a large pool of talent engaged.

In the USA, the pool of talent of interest to us soccer is already constrained by 13 years old to talent from families able to participate in costly high end leagues like the ecnl.

This is one area where I actually believe it has little to do with the youth structure. We still have an enormous advantage in player pool, we just do not actually take any advantage of it.

The USWNT selection is not the best players. It is the specific players they've salaried for the year and who are pushed by sponsors like Nike & Gatorade due to their own contracts. For years we have sent the same group of players with very little turn over, much less than most other teams both women and men. It is a selection process driven by "star power" and commercial interests, not fielding the best 11 on field.

Right on point, factual. US Soccer picked this group one last time to get every last sponsorship dollar.

Good points on the sponsors influencing the selections.
