I don’t think any of you even know the definition of the word “misogynistic.” Let me help you out: feeling, showing, or characterized by hatred of or prejudice against women.

Anyone who claims that because a person used a term like “sweat heart” it makes them a “misogynist” belongs either in a mental institution or working for CNN.

Men, particularly white men, are on top of the social hierarchy in this society. You don’t get to tell others what’s offensive or demeaning or belittling or sexist or racist or homophobic to the group you’re offending. You just don’t.
In this case, it’s not just the word choice. It’s the tone, the context, and the air of superiority exhibited from the coach.
This doesn’t make him a bad person. He did something he should learn from and simply apologize and move forward.

Most posters on the board seem to be men, and there you are deciding what may or may not be deemed misogynistic by women. How about the ref he was talking to? Was she offended?

The question is… why do coaches even complain to the ref. about calls?

              That’s the real problem here.

The attention is the true double standard here, and is the sexist part of this story. The way of the world today is to look for offenders and victims and find them even when they are not there. Freedom of the press is great and necessary but we can stop this madness by applying some common sense to the things we read. Let’s do so.
The guy used "sweetheart" instead of "champ" because he thought he would get more mileage out of it when condescending to a female ref. His purpose was to offend the ref, which is dumb even without the obvious extra intention. You guys all need to quit being such snowflakes when a guy gets called on what he hands out.

Exactly but still missed the point. If he called the ref champ, he would also be condescending. I’m Sure that was his point - to be condescending to a ref that he thought didn’t measure up. We see that all the time. Doesn’t make it a sexist remark. Makes it a bit of a dooshy remark but not sexist.

Stop it. People regardless of sex or color can have opinions. Just because someone is a white male doesn’t make them wrong. What you wrote is textbook racism and sexism. Literally look up the definition.

                      Laughable.

Yes. He obviously is an ass. I would not want him around my kid. No normal parent would. Yes, his comment was sexist, and stupid, and he should have been ejected. He then could explain to the league why he said what he said. No excuse for it, and no one should put up with it.

He used the term to target the ref as a female. It isn't hard to figure out what's "sexist" about it. What's even arguable about this?

Sorry, but that literally makes no sense. When the question is whether something a man said is sexist to women, then the opinion of other men isn't even wrong. It's irrelevant.
