    A first year Oregon team with two close losses to teams that played in the Supercopa tournament last month isn't a bad showing, especially given the fact that their top goal scorer and another starter were out. The loss from Crossfire came after a pk with less than 90 seconds remaining and the Eastside game was a pretty even match despite the 2-0 result. They ended the tournament with a win over the Washington State Cup Champions. Overall not a bad weekend against established teams that have been playing in national tournaments and dominating in Washington

      GT it is embarrassing that you spend so much time on this site. Is that what the Academy is paying you for? Defending the smoke and mirror show on an anonymous chat? Class act.

        I'm a proud parent of a player and not Gabe. Evidently you have a problem with touting the accomplishments of a group of amazing young ladies. Yes they had close losses to the two teams that were in the finals at Crossfire (their first ever losses to girls teams), but they got to see what real competition is and learned from it.
        You on the other hand are a tool who uses an anonymous chat to talk **** about kids and other clubs that you obviously have a deep-seated emotional problem with. Crawl back under your rock.

          This is embarrassing. You are justifying losses of 10 year old girls after going on for weeks in multiple threads about how superior they are. You need to stop talking on here. You are giving your team a bad name. People actively want you to lose because of this BS. Just STOP. Of course you are proud of your kid and every parent can come up with 20 reasons why their kid's team didn't show well in Seattle. JUST STOP.

            The proper way (in this forum) to deal with people who dare to criticize your club, is to accuse them of having a small pecker. Obviously you didn't get the memo.

              I’m confused? Do you not “see what real competition is” while playing for the Thorns Academy?

              Isn’t that the point of paying so much money and travel?

              Oh yeah, you are a parent of a young age group player.....you will learn soon enough that you were sold a bunch of BS. There is no difference between players in Washington and Oregon....the difference is the terrible club your kid plays for and their awful coaching.

              Just wait....you will learn this. Unfortunately it takes time and a lot of money before the lesson is learned. Many have gone before you and sadly many will after you.

              Always the same excuse....better competition when the Thorns teams lose every tournament and get booted in the 1st round at national showcases.

              The “best” players avoid the BS and don’t need the hype to succeed.

                And likewise for everyone else.

                Thorns = CU = FC = WashT = CFC = Eugene = PCU = UPDX.

                All pay to play clubs. All trying to peddle the codswallop that they are special, and that the club down the street is a horrible place full of incompetent grifters whose only skill is parting clueless parents with their money. All have payrolls to meet.

                Find a club where your kid is comfortable and happy. Other than avoiding the occasional horrible or abusive coach (which can be found at any club, unfortunately--ask around, and ask people you trust, not commenters here), there is no secret sauce when it comes to teaching children how to play the game of soccer. What matters is raw talent, and touches on the ball (private practice, club training, pickup games, formal matches). The clubs that dominate the standings, by and large, are product of superior recruiting and not superior coaching.

                  Considering the Westside Metros name disappeared many, many years ago, it would be an act of magic.

                        100% true right here.
