The losing team has more to lose than just a game.
And, unless it's a clear victory (at least a 2pt GD) posters will debate the closeness of any game for years to come.

Games across all age groups were scheduled on the boys side early spring. Oakwood chickened out....enough said. They decided to play ajax and Sporting.
