He could have done it many months ago and given some time to find a good replacement.

There could have been personal reasons that impacted the timing.

Coach is that you? How come you are leaving our team? Personal reasons for delaying the decision? What kind of personal reasons delays a decision that could have been made months ago?

^ and people wonder why they left?

Things change in people's lives. The coach isn't obliged to anything but any possible terms of their contract with the school, not you. Get over yourself and your kid's soccer career.

In other words, life. Or, from what has been described about some of the parents maybe just sick of it all and didn't want to return. Post Covid a lot of people are reassessing their careers, what makes them happy

FC parents can afford to pay the coach for PT 😉

3 months before the season starts is not an unreasonable amount of time. They will probably get a smaller applicant pool but they will be fine. I’m sure a lot of coaches would like this job and I am relatively certain they already have someone lined up for the job. Many times posting the position is just a formality of obligation.

Guy had plenty of time to let Hand know he wasn't coming back. Could have resigned months ago. Classy stuff coach
