It seems the Republican Party's governing values have changed from what they used to be. I remember a low tax, free market, fiscally conservative group of folks who used to be in the party, but no longer seems to be the case with regards to public policy. Look at the Florida Governor.
Ron DeSantis has done the following:
Government control over privately run businesses (Social Media) Check
Raising taxes on consumers (online out-of-state retail tax) Check
Telling companies how to run their business (vaccine requirements on cruises) Check
State government control over local municipalities decisions (mask mandate) Check
State Government curbing Freedom of Speech and Assembly (Protest Bill) Check
These are just a few examples.
None of these are conservative principals or values. Why is the Governor so popular with Republicans?
He can be very abrasive with the media, does that appeal more to Republicans than actual policy?
Just curious what people think
