    BLM - Behind the Scenes

The founder of Black Lives Matter (BLM) in St. Paul, Minnesota, recently released a video in which he called out the group's "ugly truth," by which he meant their positions on family and education.

"In 2015, I was the founder of Black Lives Matter in St. Paul," said Rashad Turner, who now leads the pro-school choice group Minnesota Parent Union.

"I believed the organization stood for exactly what the name implies – Black lives do matter. However, after a year on the inside, I learned they had little concern for rebuilding Black families," he added.

Turner's video, published to YouTube last week, highlighted how the group's website stated that it wanted to "disrupt the nuclear family structure."

"And they cared even less," Turner added, "about improving the quality of education for students in Minneapolis. That was made clear when they publicly denounced charter schools alongside the teachers' union."

"I was an insider in Black Lives Matter and I learned the ugly truth – the moratorium on charter schools does not support rebuilding the Black family. But it does create barriers to a better education for Black children."

BLM wants to destroy the nuclear family even though the reduction of the the nuclear family in large segments of the minority community is the single factor most correlated with poverty, poor education, and incarceration.

BLM and too many Dems want to destroy education - prohibiting "advanced" classes in high school, abolishing high-quality test-in schools, prohibiting charter schools, and in some places even eliminating grades - even though education is a person's best chance at personal improvement.

BLM wants these things because it doesn't want to create a environment where everyone has an equal chance. It wants an environment in which everyone has a equal result regardless of merit, effort, or work. It is a socialist organization. Anyone who doesn't understand that truly is dumber than dirt.

^^^^ dumbass has been living in the past for over 20 years ….

According to a Pew Research Center poll released this week, Democrats are now the party of college graduates, especially those with post-graduate work. Meanwhile, people with a high-school degree or less, by far the larger group, slightly lean toward Republicans.

Both preferences are the reverse of what they were in the 1990s.

You are really stupid as sh*t. You apparently don't know what the Democratic Party is pushing. It is pushing to prohibit "advanced" classes in high school. It is pushing to eliminate elite test-in high schools. It is pushing to eliminate criteria like attendance and timely completing work. It is pushing to eliminate school choice. It pushing affirmative action, which reduces standards because once schools allow in people who can't be there on their own merit, standards must be reduced to keep those people from failing out (thus rampant grade inflation and dumbing down of curricula since the 1970s). I amend my statement - you are even dumber than sh*t.

You are so stupid you apparently can't read. Where in the post did you read that Dems are driving minorities out of "college." What Dems are doing destroying standards and meaningful education. Dems have created an environment where minorities and others learn nothing in high school and then go to "colleges" that are jokes. They graduate without the ability to engage in intelligent thought and take jobs at Starbucks because a modern day "college" education from anything other than a top-20 school is the modern day equivalent of what used to be an 8th grade education. Apparently you are a prime example of the collapse of the education system under "progressive" policies.

Unfortunately, you have hit the nail on the head. Standards have completely collapsed. Kids are graduating with 4.0s from "colleges" while having less competency than kids had at my private high school 20 years ago. Sadly, standards have been deteriorating even at "elite" colleges for the last 50 years because once they admit candidates based on diversity rather than merit, the schools need to dumb down standards in order to keep those kids in school. What was once a C is now a B+ and what was once a B is now an A. But at least the kids in the "elite" schools (Harvard, Yale, Princeton, Cal Tech, MIT) learn something. All the other "colleges" have become a complete joke with degrees that are absolutely meaningless.

You are right. But its more like yesterday's F is today's C and yesterday's B- is today's A. I would hire a kid from a top 10 school, but all the degrees from all other "colleges" are no better than toilet paper. They mean nothing because of how dumbed-down our society has become.

It was actually 1993 when a distinguished faculty member at a leading university told me, a PhD candidate at the time, that the first two years at the undergraduate level were now remedial and that the students 20 years before THAT came with better skills. So don’t pay yourself on the back too much, you were part of that wave of declining accomplishment.

BTW curricula are standardized across colleges and universities, so you can expect Calculus I to look the same at schools like UMASS and Harvard say

Man, with declining achievement at college level due to K-12 not preparing students for the work, how dumbass are those who don’t go to college? I think they are called “Republicans” now that the Democrats are the party of college grads

I like how the first instinct of every scum bag liberal piece of human filth is to blame someone else or the "system." Lots of people, including minorities, were better prepared for life 70 years ago than they are today. But the toxic leftist philosophy of disclaiming personal responsibility, blaming the system, and preaching victim hood has destroyed the futures of tens of millions. Here is a news flash. The kids of dirt poor Asians just getting off the boat go to the same supposedly crappy schools as all other low income minorities. But, because they reject the vile leftist crap that has been peddled for the last 100 years, they take personal responsibility, work, learn, and then get into good colleges. It is the poor minorities whose families have lived here for the last 100 or more years who don't strive because they have been taught the system is against them and they are "victims" who fail. Those people are victims of the Democratic Party's perverse philosophy. But, of course, keeping the foundational principle of shifting blame, the Dems ill never take responsibility for the harm and human misery they have caused.

You're 95% correct except that the system isn't so much against them as it is in reallity working for them.
They've been taught how to work the system to there advantage that's been put in place by all the bleeding heart liberals.

Even the poorest and most "disadvantaged" persons in the United States have more opportunity than 95% of the people on the planet. The are "privileged" just by virtue of living in the United States. Of course, if the 95% told our poor that they are "privileged" and owe something to the 95% of the world, our poor would call BS and say that others are entitled to nothing. All the "privilege" stuff is horse sh*t being leveraged by people for competitive advantage over others trying to get as much as possible for doing as little heavy lifting s possible. And enabled by the perverse leftist ideology.

It is all about posturing for advantage. All about getting something for nothing. No different that the liberal mantra "make the rich pay" - only, of course, as long as "the rich" is not defined to include me.

The latest government data show that in 2018, the top 1% of income earners—those who earned more than $540,000—earned 21% of all U.S. income while paying 40% of all federal income taxes. The top 10% earned 48% of the income and paid 71% of federal income taxes
