WNT and MNT both work for the same employer - the Federation. Yet that employer pays the MNT more money for being less successful than the women.

Their pay is structured differently, as are benefits (eg the women get health insurance while the men don't because the men are at clubs actually making a buck). The men's NT doesn't make much from their international competition (hard when they don't compete 😀) but they get big $ from FIFA because of the big $ generated.

The women agreed to their contract. They can renegotiate their next one, but if they don't bring home the gold and ratings are down? Weaker bargaining position.

The WNBA has been around for 20 years and basketball is a much more popular sport, yet WNBA games get sparse attendance and almost no TV coverage. The WNBA has operated at a loss each and every year.

Msg lens Knicks and liberty. Lakers and Sparks have same owner. Outside of sport, many companies have profitable and unprofitable busInesses.

When you can easily judge profitability based on different businesses, people are compensated accordingly.

Women's soccer is a better product on the field but the revenues from attendance ofems game and TV contract dwarfs women's revenue. Factor that the women team negotiated a contract with guaranteed payouts ( they were paid during covid hiatus), you come to the situation where compensation does not match.

Life isn't fair.

Just like the spark won't get paid the same as the Lakers, not everyone will be paid the same as Lebron or AB and nor should they.

Trump has made almost 100 million since he left office. The open lawsuits against him could drain that.

They needed this lost so they can reboot the roster and move on tinged players who are wile America hating SJWs. Who knows maybe America will actually like them again, we can hope.

Haters like you will continue to exist. The USA had a tough time breaking through Canada. For many veteran players it will be their last Olympics. It was not their best match in possessing and clicking. The PK call that was not called on the field was weak. One could say Rose attacked on Davidson’s blind side and no way Davidson could even see Rose coming in on her as she went for the ball. Unfortunate but VAR called it. One tiny mishap and inches can determine the outcome of a game.

It is tough to reboot and bring in the youth when you have a historically great collection of athletes on a team. They probably needed a partial reboot to have a bit more young energy to go with the leadership and confidence the old guard had but it is easy to second guess the coach when they lose a tough one in the semis.

I have confidence the next wave will be quality, but the world has caught up and it will be a dog fight every tournament from here on out. No longer are there 3-4 teams in the world capable of winning an event. It is now 10-12 dangerous teams.
