    What This World Cup Shows...

For years I have said the women can play the beautiful game of soccer just like the men. Finally, North Korea, Japan, France and Sweden a little bit has shown how the womens game is evolving.

The physical power teams Germany, England and teams like Canada where knocked out by technical teams. The only one left in the World Cup that plays the old style of game is the U.S.A. I'm 100% for the U.S.A. for this world cup but this is a very old team. The great news is we have alot of young players coming up that will play the game properly as long as the old dinosaurs in charge don't get in the way.

One final upgrade the game needs is for high school, club, college and national teams to upgrade the quality of officiating matches. The game is called soccer or futbol not ruby.

              Les bleus

The French were clearly the better team. USA managed to score their chances.

USA 11-0-1 all time vs. France. Yes they've "managed" quite well!

Apparently you didn't watch the game. The better team does not always win. France controlled the mid field and were attacking the US all game and were better technically. France's issues were there lack of organization in the back. They seem to have difficulty defending in the box. The US scored some good, timely goals but I think we got a little "lucky" yesterday. Obviously, Iwant the US to win it all but Japan is the sentimental favorite especially with the recent disater the country had. It would be a great lift for the country if they won.

So they are unorganized in the back and have trouble defending in the box so that clearly makes them the better tream. You people are fkin retards.

You gotta be one of those loser parents on the sideline "oh, we lost but played better and shoulda won". You are a whiner. A team is as good as its results. Look, Einstein, at the scoreboard. That is why they play: to see who can get more balls in the net. You need to get your rear-end off your shoulders, please.

You post kills itself. You are trying to say teams with midgets on them that kick the ball around are better then the stronger physical teams yet one of those tall physical teams is in the finals. The only thing better then a tall physical team that is fast is a tall physical team that is fast and has great ball control skills.

                          Technical, Tactical, Physical, Mental

Successful soccer requires all four of these components: Technical Skills, Tactical SKills, Physical Shills, Mental Skills.

Every team searchs for the best in all four categories - but as in life, there are compromises and debates. Which is better; Technical or Physical? Tactical or mental?

At the level of World Cup Teams (Men or Women) all players are in the top levels in all of these categories - but how do they compare to each other?

IMO France, Brazil, Japan are the highest level in terms of Technical Skills. IMO USWNT is the highest level in terms of Physical Skills, Tactical Skills and most definitely Mental Skills - behind some of these coutries on the pure individual technical skills.

In the France game, France started controling the game in the second half - US made some subs and adjustments. As did France. US got better France, not so much. Tactical advantage to US.

Physical advantage. Strength, conditioning - advantage US.

Mental. The US would not give up. They were determined.

The "Beautiful Game" preachers are only focusing on one of the four aspects of winning soccer. Would the US be better if they had some of the Marta's on their team? I don't know - how is her attitude? will she do whatever it takes to win? will she get off up off of the ground when a stronger player continues to slam her? will she whine and complain to the ref?

I'd love to see a player with Wambach's attitude, physical attributes and Marta's technical skills - who wouldn't. But they are few and far between.

In building a team, the US has done a pretty good job of putting together a group of women who are getting the job done.

The French may have pressed better in the attacking 3rd, but US defense was superior. Add to that:

                            - The French GK sucks
                            - The French can't defend a set piece
                            - The French defense in general looked like a flock of birds

                            Les Bleu Les Lost.

                              Excellent summary.
