EM is falling apart. Parents are leaving all age groups. They have to combine with other smaller clubs to make up numbers for their rosters. Their training program has failed. They are probably going to get kicked out of ECNL if they continue with their current course. This weekend they are represented with 3 weak teams in ECNL Nationals-none playing in the top groups. They have coaches with a history of questionable practices with girls, teams and parents. Club is run by a group of tools that are about their kids only.

How is that for a nutshell???

Well first off, the 2004s are playing in Champions League in a 4 team bracket that most likely contains the National Champions, but hey-why let facts get in the way.

Next, East Meadow will NEVER get kicked out of ECNL. N E V E R.
You must be new to this...allow me to take you back a few years when East Meadow had 2-3 teams competing in NYCSL at U10 or 11 (don't remember exactly) and instead of putting the best girls together and forming a team, they knocked on the door of nearby Syosset and literally brought over their entire team (03/04) to be their ECNL team in that age group. This was only a year or 2 after they had done the same thing to the 01/02 age group-shafting them for a team from Hicksville. Parents from both age groups went nuts and bombarded ECNL folks with emails trashing East Meadow and their practices. Wanna know how ECNL responded? By celebrating East Meadow on their social media as a "spotlight" club-in a good way.

A few years later, when East Meadow was granted a GDA badge under the guise of LISC, ECNL was not having it and said "pick one-ECNL or GDA". East Meadow walked away from GDA in 30 seconds flat, at a time where GDA was being lauded as the league for "the best of the best". ECNL likes loyalty.

East Meadow continues to produce competitive teams, with most teams in both ECNL & ECRL finishing middle of the pack...usually around 4th out of 9. Some finish a little higher, others in 8th & 9th but overall right around average for the conference.

Most importantly, ECNL would N E V E R leave LI-an area so densely populated with upper middle class-affluent families, with 1 ECNL club. And despite the hoopla of Surf when they arrived and the yearly banter that Smithtown is in the running, no other club at this time would be able to do what East Meadow is doing.

Ah yes, the Syosset debacle. Completely shafted the players that were already there. They never had a chance, nor did their coach. EM sucks. And the dopey dad that engineered the whole thing then takes his kids to Alby, then back to EM.
And you all wonder why LI is a soccer cesspool.

I'll be the first to call out EM for being far from perfect, but your facts are wrong.

"EM is falling apart. Parents are leaving all age groups."

No, EM is not falling apart. For every kid that leaves there is another one coming in. They have an endless supply of kids at all levels. They will be just fine, trust me.

"They have to combine with other smaller clubs to make up numbers for their rosters. Their training program has failed."

This is partially true. They combine with other clubs less to get numbers up, and more so, to try to be competitive, especially on the boys side. Despite their claims that they are all about player development, EM does not develop players and are forced to look outside of the club for talent.

"They are probably going to get kicked out of ECNL if they continue with their current course."

Not even a chance that this happens. If you understood how the ECNL works, and EMSC's relationship with the ECNL, you would know this. Same applies to clubs like FC Stars. Never going to get "kicked out."

"They have coaches with a history of questionable practices with girls, teams and parents."

Maybe so, but this is a pretty vague generalization. Which coaches and what were the questionable practices? Without specific examples, this is just rumors and innuendo.

"Club is run by a group of tools that are about their kids only. "

Welcome to the world of non-profit/not-for-profit soccer, where parents form a Board of Directors and make decisions. It's human nature to favor your own kids, but this is a flaw of the system, not the people in it. There are some good people on the board and, for the most part, their hearts are in the right place. In reality, Ruairi runs the club and the board empowers him and defers to him to an unhealthy degree. The board members are primarily parents of girls, and the boys side has been neglected for years. I'm not sure that is entirely the board's fault, but the results (or lack thereof) speak for themselves.

Top players leaving EM for SUSA and Surf. SUSA ECRL teams will be stronger than EM's ECNL.

Same old posts over and over. Pick your poison. Players will go back and forth and up and down then eventually they will all age out and move on.

EM outsources their ECRL teams to Farmingdale SC anyways, no?

It’s amazing the moment a kid quits a club parents come on these sites and say “it’s falling apart”. Kids move clubs all the time now. Buyers market.

Keep paying and getting 5 minuted playing time. Then complain behind the coaches back but do nothing about it. Or just come here and whine. The reality is you kid just isn’t that good. But your money is.

Seems normal behavior with this generation of pussies. Always blaming or complaining about someone.
