That is not true. Howell is done their 05 top level team folded. Not because of the girls, the coach. Their mid level 06 team is no more, girls have moved on. Wall obtained a high lev 06 keeper, was able to remove the bottom portion of their team and replace those openings with girls from pda shore, too freehold & howell teams as well as some other amazing talent. I would not count tgis team out next season. You may be in for a surprise. Their 05 team is sold. Phenomenal coaching & teaining by JS. There is a reason why some people have stayed here for so long.

That is not how things work and only a complete idiot would try to extrapolate that one entire league is better than another through one or two outlier results.

There are so many mixed results between the leagues I think you can say they’re virtually equal at this point. USYS=GA=ECNL. it’s not a bad thing. All good leagues.

Tons of players leaving PDA Shore for Wall. Crazy how Wall has quickly become the top destination in the area (even over overrated CSA) for top talent and amazing teams. Their 06 and 05 teams can beat virtually any team in the state at those age groups and certainly local “competition” like PDA Shore and CSA GA. Glad to see town soccer is reclaiming it’s glory days of the past. That’s the way it should be.

It seems like every club in NJ is a township team. To bad none of you will ever be as good as the amazing kids at MF Shore. It's ok, your kids can become housewives and work at Target when they get older. The girls at MF Shore will carry on the awesome flag in soccer for all of us... We are the Shore! #matchfitfamily

Wow someone finally telling it like it is! Wall 05 team is a great team, probably top 3 in the state.

Wall sucks. Those are the biggest, laziest, losers next to the kids at CSA. No one holds a candlemto MF Shore, where the winners play!

They are adding top level players from the likes of PDA Shore, CSA GA etc. so much for town soccer not being “good enough”. More and more families are waking up to realize that some of these other clubs overpromise and underdeliver while charging thousands.

Town soccer is very inexpensive and high quality so the trend is shifting as many top players are returning to play for their hometowns vs paying thousands and receiving poor training at the “academies”. The percentage to play in college is very low anyway (1-2%). So playing at Wall, Twin Co, Howell, Marlboro etc vs CSA, PDA Shore, PSA makes both developmental and economic sense. Some great volunteers coaches out there and the town clubs place pretty much same percent in colleges as the other pro places.

High quality is a pretty subjective thing to say given it is relying on volunteers. Most town programs cant even field teams after the kids hit sophomore year.

Town teams were/are great for when players are younger. Kids can play with their friends and the coaches are mostly parents who do it for the love of the game. I compare it to learning to ride a bicycle. At some point each player develops to a point where you take off the training wheels and take off on your own. With soccer it’s to a more competitive atmosphere depending on your level of training and athletic ability. High quality is a very subjective term that I see no need to discuss.

Some town programs use professional coaches at least part of the time. It improves the training and takes some of the pressure off to find quality volunteers all the time. It might cost a little more than an all-volunteer program but not nearly as much as premier clubs.

Solid analogy, only with soccer the foundation needed to become a good player is a bit more complicated than riding a bike. Our youngest players learn from well meaning but barely qualified parent volunteers (like myself when my kids were younger). Iceland became a bit of a soccer powerhouse because they got every coach UEFA A or B licensed. Tough for a nation this size to replicate, but it speaks to making sure those parent volunteers get the basic training and tools they need. Build the foundation right from the start then go from there.

Absolutely! Why waste your $ at PDA Shore or CSA when you can actually play for better teams in Wall for a fraction of the cost. Some only seem to care about the 3 letters and nothing else.
