Concussion protocols are so much better than they used to be, but this is where parents need to be very watchful and know their kids. It's easy for a kid anxious to get back in to lie even fake it with a doctor. The baseline concussion testing helps but doesn't tell the whole story. If your kid still isn't themselves don't let them play no matter how much they want it. I know a kid that went back too early, of course got hit again, and they were fuked up for well over a year. It's not worth it.

Exactly. Bottom line, you can’t play soccer on a legitimate, sprained ankle. It simply doesn’t work. If you ever played, you know.

False. Wrap your ankle and suck it up. Unless its a legitimate sever sprain...even then I would question their heart. Other than that tape it up and get out there. Your 75% might be better than most others 100%.

This type of mentality is exactly why our young are soft. Pain is part of the game and you have to deal with. Sometimes that means get out there and play. This why a lot of good players never succeed as they simply lack the mentality to Do So

This isn't the world cup final. They are kids. Why risk lingering effects to play in some meaningless HS or club game.

Do you know what a sprain is? Do you know that once you sprain your ankle you will most likely sprain it again? Do you know that if you continue to play with a sprained ankle you will damage the ligaments and eventually need surgery? Bottom line, No kid should play with a sprained ankle. Rest, rehab, and gradually go back to sports.

like Bill Parcells once said- "its hard to make a team from the training room"

Sprains often never heal right but playing on them before they heal will guarantee they won't. I too have had sprains that still give me problems and broken bones that don't (except when it rains lol)
