    Blue Lives Matter

Two police officers were shot Monday -- one fatally -- while serving a warrant in San Luis Obispo, California, according to authorities.

Shots were fired around 5:20 p.m. as officers served the warrant at an apartment in the city, reports said.

One of the officers was killed in the shooting, while the other was transported to an area hospital in stable condition, according to the San Luis Obispo Police Department.

The suspect was killed by police, authorities said.

"The suspect is deceased and there is no threat to public safety at this time," tweeted the department.

Victoria Torres, 21, a neighbor, said she was upstairs in her bedroom when she heard "a very loud knocking" at an apartment across from her.

"I don’t know if it was the police or what," she told the San Luis Obispo Tribune. "I always hear noises here so I didn’t think anything of it until I heard the gunshots."

Torres said she walked downstairs, looked out a window, and saw a man carrying a "big gun" who began shooting at officers from the door of an apartment. She noted that officers were hiding behind their car, the paper reported.

"I was pretty startled and frightened," she said. "I just hid. I looked out the window again when it got quiet. Because I wasn’t sure what happened."

Soon after, Torres said she decided not to watch anymore because "it was too scary," according to the San Luis Obispo Tribune.

Another resident, Monica Rochte, 31, told the paper she heard police banging on an apartment door across the street, saying "We’re going to come in. We know you’re in there."

Rochte said the yelling continued before she heard a bang, and then a single shot. She then heard police yelling "He has a gun!" before a series of 15 to 20 shots rang out.

"This is a tragedy beyond measure for all of those who serve and care about our community," said Derek Johnson, San Luis Obispo City Manager. "Our deepest condolences go out to the family. We are devastated by this loss."

and? Yes policing is a very dangerous job, so are many other jobs. It's a terrible loss. But in a typical year about 50 officers die while serving - and not even all of those are by gunfire but also accidents, heart attacks etc. Covid killed 4x as many cops last year. I respect cops who do their jobs and serve the public without bias, hatred or ego. Unfortunately not all cops fit that description.

      Blue Lives Matter II

Two men accused of spraying police with chemical spray, including on Capitol Police Officer Brian Sicknick, during the Capitol riot will stay in jail as they await trial, a federal judge ruled on Tuesday.

The long-awaited ruling from Judge Thomas Hogan of the DC District Court comes in one of the most closely watched cases related to Trump supporters’ violence against police during the insurrection.

The two Trump supporters spraying toxic chemicals at police during the riot “wasn’t just out of the blue,” Hogan said on Tuesday. George Tanios and Julian Khater “had a plan to use those devices as weapons at the Capitol,” Hogan added.
Protect “blue lives” - lock the insurrectionists up!

      LOCK THEM UP
      OH YES
      THAT’s RIGHT
      LOCK THEM ALL UP!

Different poster. The OP didn’t “demonize” police as a group ❄️ and your comment ^^^^ acknowledges just that (“not all”). Perhaps find a mirror if you need to call someone a “moron” then?

So sad. and weak. Very weak.

            But some certainly do!

Gotta therefore love those federal hate crime charges against Floyd’s four murderers.

            More like that !

Throw the book at them = “Deterrent effect”

Big swing and a miss there con. Poster said nothing of the kind.

Why was this thread even started? So stupid. To somehow link the left to police killings?
I mean righties and whities never kill cops right? Condolences to the loved ones of the slain officer. Cops shot the guy, good riddance.

Cops should stop or at least reduce doing in-home arrests/warrants. Two FBI agents were killed in Feb in FL serving a warrant for child porn. Nab them leaving their premises if possible. Going into a building is dangerous

I guess you missed the part where the poster said they respected police officers? They just don't respect the diks, racists and special-ops wannabes. Most cops do their jobs well. I couldn't do it. Watch those cop shows and many have the patience of saints dealing with drunks, morons and the mentally ill. But police have to understand when stories like this happen, the public will question their actions - ten armed officers and a helicopter for a possibly stolen UHaul truck (and it wasn't stolen and the two women were Asian). Necessary?
