Like the way they keep blaming auto-correct every time they advertise ECNL for girls instead of what they really have to offer - ECNL-R? Yeah, that pesky auto-correct.

The "reorganized" this year and changing the team naming schemes, which has opened the door to whole new ways of cheating parents.

This is such a good thread

Things mentioned that I will totally confirm.

              1) Yes, all clubs say they are about player development, but really they just want to win. So when your player is good they blow so much smoke up your butt. And it sticks all the way from local club team B up to MLS Team A. Development is mostly secondary.

              2) The reason there is so many leagues is because it is indeed a scam. Every year a new set of smoke and mirrors so clubs can tout how great they are doing.

              3) MLS team parents and even some non MLS team parents are bat**** crazy. They rant and rave and blame coaches and other parent's kids when the teams do poorly... The truth is that most kids can't make a simple receiving touch, turn, and pass. The odds of your team completely 8 passes in a row in a level game is about 1 out of 256 attempts... or about once per game. Congrads everyone pretty much sucks except for a few elite real MLS teams.

              4) MLS Next teams are the best but the gap isn't as large as you might think it would. It is for the most part the only place to get decent training.

              5) Parents be warned. Directors of the Club are more interested in trying to make everyone happy than real development. They will lie to you and yes they resemble car salesmen. If you think something doesn't feel right than you are probably right.

              6) The clubs generally hate each other. Again its not about the kids its about the club.

              7) Everyone club talks about getting your kid's a pathway to college and most do absolutely nothing to make that happen.

              8) Your club's board only cares about the teams their kids play on....Period!

              9) Forget about the team or the league. Find the best training you can.

              10) Watch European Pro soccer. If your kid can't do what they do than realize how far away your kid really is and realize just how bad the best training you can find is.

              11) Also the cream in the US doesn't always rise to the top.... Because there is no pathway. Forget about it. No pathway in the US. Bottom line you have to be an elite athelete first and foremost. If you are you might find a way. Most likely even then you won't because clubs will keep you parents dumb and happy. No your kid isn't really that good. But they will tell you that to keep you dumbed down.

              12) Bottom line. Unless your kid is one of the best players on one of the top 30 nationally ranked teams than you kid isn't most likely going anywhere. Why?

              13) There isn't any real Scouting being done in the US. Clubs tell you the scouts are there, and college coaches are watching. Rare! And usually they are there to watch a specific kid. Club directors are often the gate keepers as to whether your kid gets really scouted.

              14) Best advice.

Get the best training you can
              Train at home often
Limit travel (tournament teams are a good idea)
If you have a local MLS NeXT team it is worth trying for it.
Avoid lots of travel, ODP, etc.... it isn't worth it.
Hope your kid turns into an athletic freak
Stay away from other soccer parents....
              Let your kid have fun

The clubs have brainwashed the parents into thinking mls and ecnl are the only pathways to college or pro. I have always said from the beginning find the best training no matter what league. Its the parents thst are sick not the players . They will spend 4k per season on a pie in the sky complain about everything and return right back to the madness.
