As overpriced as it is for the younger ages - but with worse coaching

This is where America suffers. To wide of a landmass, too few quality senior level coaches to cover that area. Larger cities more likely to have these coaches regardless of badge. You cannot develop these coaches through amateur play and sending out for training only does so much.

I'll take experience over some these high level licenses. Having a B or an A doesnt mean much if you cant manage or motive kids. Or if your just an azz

Some of the best coaches on the planet came through amateur play

And that amounts to how many in your area or club? 1? One coach cannot cover an entire club. This is what everyone feels on this board; this is what holds American soccer back. A similarly skilled kid in Britain can be scouted by a Premier League Academy scout by just watching a local league game by the local club - no ID clinics, no talent center, super regional tournament, etc.

Is it? South America and Europe are pretty big and they turn out world class players all over the place. If your kids dont play for fun because they love the sport, this is what you get. When they only train because you pay for it and chauffer them to practice 2 or 3 days a week, this is what you get. American kids play basketball, soccer, football in the school yards, not soccer. Change that and make them play freeform for free .... a lot .... and you will get world class players.

FSA is the club that targets the kids that don’t make Oakwood and CFC’s top teams. This is why the club will never be good. It’s embarrassing. FSA are bottom U13-17. U18 are only decent team they have and they are still not good

CFC 13’s crushed FSA in the fall. The 16’s have no chance to beat CFC and the 18’s are their only chance to win a game

That is not true at all. My kid in Avon grade school plays soccer at recess daily with his class; HS seniors in Avon also recall this fondly. Before pandemic cohosting it was a giant co-ed game with participants across the grade. No one plays basketball despite there’s a court and only recently a few toss the football around as some have gotten into that sport. In fact my kids best friend, through these recess games, learned to love the game that he hated only a year or two ago and now joined the local travel team. Sometimes they have goals and sometimes they go back to the pre-FA roots of the game and literally treat a giant line, wall, or fence as a goal. It’s not just and Avon thing, others in the Farmington Valley talk about the daily, recess pick-up.

Europe is a dense block of countries each with its own multi-tiered league system, so you are incorrectly assuming this to be a similar comparison to the wide are of the US. British young academy players practice 4x per week and they travel throughout the country. In Europe there are way more opportunities to be seen at different levels in every day events/competitions and way more infrastructure and incentives for teams to find and develop young players. This competition for players takes the politics or perception out of the game. Where is in America we may ooze over a short youngster with quick feet and over invest playing time and team spots him/her the first few years ahead of their 12th. But that same youngster 95% will not go anywhere in U12 and beyond because they are too small in aerial situations and the field grows to long/wide to feature their quick short movements. Can a few make to pros - sure they can but like Maradonna you need to become a physical presence bigger than your stature - that rarely happens. We should give opportunities for short kids (destined to grow to at least 5’8) and not completely shut them out, but should that be a starting position or an Elite spot? Having a sense for the bigger problem is key for America and club soccer to grow a strong pipeline of talent.
