Where do these people get these falsehoods?
that's an easy question- from cocky, arrogant select parent's always bragging how great they are. Select-chill pill please. You got called out and made to look bad.

The NT Training Centers that have been done over the years may be confusing people. When they first started, they would invite the "top" players from almost every club to ensure fairness. When my kid and a few of her teammates would go, they were stunned by the range in playing abilities - kids that couldn't execute simple passing patterns or pass with their off-foot, etc. playing with kids that had been sent away to National Team camps. I think it was a good attempt at fairness and a chance to see any hidden gems (and for JD to recruit them???), but it wasn't good soccer by any means.

It was a waste of time for the best players, but to kids from the smaller clubs, these were invitations to "National Team Training." These invites show up on lots of player resumes, I'm sure.

Assuming second team along with some other second teams that are currently in DPL.

SSS is not getting into the ECNL. The teams playing in the impact NPL are the central region teams that currently play in NEP if you look closely. These teams train out of stars complex in Lancaster. This is a good move for Stars and not one club in the impact NPL. These will be technically their 5th teams playing against 1st and 2nd teams. This will be a great recruiting pathway for his ECNL regional and maybe ECNL national teams to pick off the top players from these other member clubs, especially ones near Lancaster. LL and the other member clubs will regrets letting them in.

                Legit question

no dog in the fight on this but legit question...

why would it be bad for SSS and/or NEFC to be let into ECNL? Wouldn't it be good for soccer in the region to have more options at that level? Would two more really dilute the pool too much?

FC Stars in Lancaster is not geographically convenient for a lot of the region.
                Scorpions in Taunton same.
Adding NEFC and SSS might work?

The top teams of all of these clubs can be competitive outside of the region.

It just seems vindictive and political.

Why? Financial considerations and pride. Also, marketing; if it got out there were legit teams nearby, then the scam of needing to go 4+ hours to get a game in is exposed.

well known fact that years ago LL tried to basically run ECNL and the board wouldn't put up with antics. She was aggressive and insulting. As a result, a town team from Mass. has a better shot of getting into ECNL than select does! ECNL has had enough of LL so select parents can really thank her for it's failure of never ever getting into ECNL!

Right. Like it is a big secret Stars offer the best pathway for top players. Good for stars and good for impact as they are arguably adding the premiere girls brand in new england.

LL has never been involved with ECNL.

She tried very hard to be though! Hence her ban from getting into ECNL!

You’re right, but you’re looking at it from your perspective.
Look at it from the business owners perspective.... why would it be good to let them in?

The poster’s answer to your question will tell you everything you need to know about her/him as a person. My guess is that you’ll get some kind of super idealistic “it would be better for the overall development of Mass soccer...” or something that displays a complete lack of business acumen and separation from reality.

These parents can never properly put themselves in the shoes of the people running Scorpions or Stars. They can’t understand that these 2 clubs have an exclusive hold on entrance to the 1 youth soccer league that is well established and thriving, and whose competition is struggling in failing league(s). They can’t understand the parent/customer dynamic the way someone like JD does (I think it’s a forest-for-the-trees thing)

Thanks for the sanctimonious lecture. It is really a market analysis question. There is a big enough population of players at several clubs to warrant more than two ECNL clubs in this region. To keep a couple clubs out because of a stranglehold by the two (or three if you count FC Stars Blue and White) owners of the license in the area will ultimately stunt competition and lead to a worse product for the parent organization. As it stands today, the ECNL teams in the region are sometimes the strongest (See FC Stars) and sometimes not very competitive at all (see Scorpions). Releasing a couple of more licenses in the market would not only lead to a better product on the field because of improved competition, but also allow JD to make his product even better so that he can charge more (because there is a limit to the growth that even he can go after if the market stays static).

I get the situation and understand the strategy, I just think it’s pretty short sighted from a business perspective.
