        Soccer

It all comes down to talent. Coaching training and certainly the attitudes of the parents are severely overrated. Coaches at this age basically set lineups. And talent wins or loses.

From day one? When they were in 8th grade? Come on. Players and families bear a good part of the responsibility, the club a smaller piece.

The '03s have gotten the same coaches as every other United team that rolls through Bethany.

how did they screw them over? all the other teams at CFCU seem to being better. Just not very good players. And the college coaches seem to agree.

Why? Their money is greener than all of the other age groups ... They do less. Isn't that what this is all about; making money?

Why? The reality is because of the stupid calendar change there are trapped players who need the U19 group to be able to play as seniors. It's less of an issue here in CT because we have a much later Kindergarten start than the rest of the country (most start around 9/1, start of the school year, we're Dec 31). But in most of the rest of the US there's a good number of kids who are trapped. Sure it's an added money bonus but that's not why it's there.

Correct. My kid’s ECNL team in MA has 9 “trapped” players. School cutoff here is Aug 31. None of those kids were held back in school or reclassified. Just born Sept-Dec. It really sucks for those kids in 8th grade and senior year of HS. Grad year would be a much better model for 99.9% of players (birth year change matches international model and applies to YNT’s—very few kids in that situation and they will still be identified regardless of how their club age groups are structured), AND would be easier for college coaches for recruiting. Unfortunately, that ship has sailed...

Why? they changed it once and they can change it again. Youth soccer always has a major disruption or chaotic change every year or two so they are due for another one if covid is winding down.

It's hurting many players and the sport for the benefit of almost none. The premise was to put players on an even playing field vs international players. But if you're good enough to be worrying about national teams it doesn't matter when you started because you'll always be three heads above all the rest in your age group and probably the next 1-2 as well. This applies to almost no one relative to all the rest
