    Jeff Cup/NY Quarantine

How is that players who were in VA this past weekend are playing in girls' HS games today?

There is still a travel quarantine in effect until April 1. There is a minimum of 3 days of quarantining and then you can test out.

At a minimum, no high school players should be in any games today or tomorrow. We all agree that soccer is low-risk, but the rules are still in place and shouldn't be enforced by some districts and not others. Coaches should not be willingly flaunting rules just to win a HS game.

They are guidelines, not requirements. Play On.

If you are afraid of life, like so many left wing loons today, go hide in a hole. You will be safe there.

Well when you're the head of Suffolk County Coaches, the rules apparently don't apply to you or your players. Wonder if NYSPHSAA feels the same way.

It is not a recommendation...it is a requirement with fines applicable for violation.

It's the "I'll do what I want...rules are for others to follow" that goats me. If one district is forcing kids to not play, then all districts should be. And coaches that turn a blind eye when they know the reality should be fired!

We are still in a pandemic and you can't tell me that having a kid sit out for a game is worth it. There was very little social distancing down there as well!

Infractions have been notified to NYS and the Superintendents.

Here's another question, who in their right mind thinks it's OK to play today after playing three days in a row? Hint - your science teacher masquerading as a soccer coach couldn't care less.

Who cares , let them play. The quarantines rules are a joke.

Exactly. Only sick losers would want to keep HS players from competing. Using COVID as an excuse is despicable.

Well either all the kids get to ignore the restrictions or none of them get to...doesn't matter if you disagree with the restrictions or not. What's despicable (not to mention pathetically desperate) is screwing over all the schools/players that are following the rules just to get a win in HS or to see little Suzy rack up some goals against a team that has half their starters quarantining.

The kids are not at high risk. The asymptomatic carrying of the deadly virus is the risk. They are kids having fun on a bus but the virus does not care. It goes home with them and infects the vulnerable people.

How is is possible that educated adults still do not understand this? Well over half a million are dead from a real virus not a fake excuse. No one intended to infect any of them and yet here we are. Public health guidance is not just pulled out of someone's a** for no reason. For a school soccer match of minor importance? No one will remember it the day after tomorrow. Hope no one gets sick.
