Much more important than any particular governor, is..... does the state invest resources into the schools... particularly....do they invest in quality faculty? NY is at or close to the top in this metric and. It shows in the quality of its schools

Anyone I know who moved to FL or TX or TN in recent years (the most popular destinations from here it seems) put their kids in private schools in those states because they were very disappointed in the public schools there. So have one big tax bill (partially deductible) for NY to educate multiple kids, or pay multiple tuitions for private schools in cheaper states. The math might work for some, not for others.

No kidding. A lot of our sky high taxes go into education and yes, quality education is expensive. If you don't value it, then you can go to a cheaper place. But there will always be families that value and are willing to invest in quality schooling.

Our taxes are high because of cheats who don’t pay their share.

Would be hilarious if his FL residency is ruled invalid and he has to pay NY back taxes

Huh? In NY State most districts fund education from property taxes. Only residents of the district -who are all paying taxes via rent or mortgage, are eligible to go to the school. That is how it works...

who is going for free? Good luck trying to get in the school if you are not a resident in the district. They do not fool around about that.
