If/when a NW division of GA gets off the ground BC would be a potential source of decent teams to fill out the league and keep travel costs manageable. The whole BCPSL is probably stronger than RCL 1, Vancouver is drivable for teams in the PNW, and for teams in Nor Ca or further away its as easy to fly to Vancouver as it is to Seattle or Portland.

This is such a ecnl and Washington youth soccer way of thinking. The ecnl can not just pluck who they want. Do you think the top club in the country is not one they wanted or two of the top programs in Southern California Look the sun doesn’t rise and set in Washington The problem with all of this is the ecnl has to answer to its current members which similar to Washington have opinions and a multitude of reasons on why certain clubs should or shouldn’t be in. For example in certain areas ala Washington specific clubs don’t want other clubs in because it would effect their bottom line and they are scared of it upsetting their apple cart because they have rested on their league and their perceived name for to long. What has happened is other clubs have decided they are tired of the political BS.

Curious but where are the boundaries that Reign would draw from? Would it be the same as Seattle United? I know individual players can play where ever they want but where would a majority of the player pool be from?

Why do you need boundaries for soccer. Just play the game and let kids and families go where they want. This isn’t school Reign will draw from whatever areas they can just like Seattle United does or efc or xf.

The issue of reign getting or not getting an ecnl membership doesn’t solely lie with the surrounding ecnl clubs. I’m guessing it has more to do with their one and done previous go around with ecnl, as well as all the “second tier” and “inferior league” language they were a part of, communicated to players and parents by Reign coaches and directors. Lastly, please identify one other club of the 100 who are members of ecnl, who has the quantity of players currently registered that is even remotely comparable to Reign?
Please stop making this out to be about some local vendetta where clubs and people are keeping Reign from an ecnl. Ecnl has proved itself capable of making qualified decisions, weathered the storm of the DA, we need to trust in the process.

They will for sure be promoted next year to a full membership.

Reign one and done: mostly down to SU and Eastside not being willing to fund both ECNL and DA, so a bit ironic if Reign (whose top players are funded by USSF and whose pro team plays in a league largely operated by USSF staff) were the ones that the fall for moving to DA along with the vast majority of the top clubs in the country. XF too was very clear that its DA teams were their top teams.
Whether they get in or not: ECNL’s track record is mixed. Their exclusion of some of the top clubs looks purely political, just as it did before DA. Their assessment of Reign and Thorns probably has more to do with what role they want to play in promoting NWSL (or what coaching education when play opportunities OL could offer on the boys side) than pull by the local clubs.
If Reign was awarded ECNL tomorrow I’d expect most of their ECNL rosters for next year to end up middle of the pack for ECNL. ECNL added a lot of mediocrity, including B teams from several clubs, during the DA era. Unless they are gonna drop a bunch or teams and clubs the way to get all the best teams and clubs under one roof and playing one another is to let all the GA teams in and move to pro rel with two tiers.

This is the current version of the map for next year, which will be at 109 teams with the additions of Thorns and La Roca and more than that with any additional clubs added: https://149363092.v2.pressablecdn.co...42420.001.jpeg. At least 39 of those teams wouldn’t have been in ECNL four years ago.

Has the Reign said Sorry for pooping on ECNL and talking bad about their league the past few years?
