But, to your point, it's rare.
OK. When's the last time STARS won anything significant with their kickball style (which I must say is true for most of their teams if not all)?

There is nothing of any real significance to be won in youth soccer. It is youth soccer for crying out loud. Youth, kids, not-professional, pay-to-play soccer.

Who won any tournament at any youth level last year, or the year before? You don't remember or care because no one does other than those players and their families and maybe the coach.

"those players".....like the are an after thought when in reality they should be the focus. Let THEM make the decision that makes THEM happy.

Per age group, call it 60 ECNL players.....how many end up contributing to a D1 program? Divide that by call it 2000 players per birth year and that is the ridiculously low percentage of players where the ECNL pathway has tangible results. The rest? A lot of money, a lot of time in the car to end up no different than most other players. Now, if they enjoy it then great, if they view it as a job interview then take a hard look at the situation.

Of course they enjoy it. They have a blast. Who the heck is investing all this time and money in soccer if they do not take pleasure in competing in the sport?

They are the focus of their families and team. Who else? Are you following youth sports beyond your kids? If so here is a tip...professional sports.....it is much better. Your welcome.

If that's how you feel, why be here on these forums? Why continue to shell out thousands to a club, apart from what you're spending on gas and hotel and food and everything else.

There's definitely significant tournaments and championships for this level of play. Both national and international level. Do the kids get paid? No! But neither do college athletes playing whatever bowls or madnesses there's out there.

The Stars bench players, you know, players #18-22 who don't see the pitch all the time and miss games completely I'd question just how much fun they are having....

Really? Name a significant youth tournament from 2019 and who won it? And no looking anything up.

Well that's their own fault and the fault of their parents. Kids that are obviously the bottom 1/4 on a team and barely play should drop down or find a new club/team. It's ridiculous. Don't blame the system or the club for this, blame the parents.

Only they don’t know until their chest deep in sh**. At no point does stars ever tell parents and players they are bench players who won’t ever get in the game. I think if they were up front about that from the beginning, most would not accept spots and sign contracts. Parents who are unsure, ask and get it in writing. These grubby club owners and coaches should have to be held accountable.

And yet many sign up again and again...at what point is it on the parents/player? Or could it be they are just making a different choice than you would?

Why would you choose to be a bench warmer? Your daughter must not love soccer that much if she is content riding the bench. Maybe she likes watching soccer more...

new to this site? there are whole threads on this point, at least at the ecnl level. i agree with you below that level (and probably at that level) but there's a whole bunch of parents who don't see things the same way when you're talking about a top team and college recruiting. but that's a side show for this thread.
