A global pandemic will do that to things

AFAIK there is no 08 Timbers discovery or Timbers academy this year.

Just the MLS next 18 16/17 and u15

Also Odp has stuff the next month and into
    June/July

Timber will not be bringing players in until U15
This 08 age group is pretty soft so the Timber’s will likely be bringing in taken from outside the area

Which is historically consistent for all of the Timbers Youth Academy Players aged 15 and older, as it should be. Don't matter if our wee locals are hard, jelly like or just plain soft, makes no difference MLS teams want to develop future SOCCER pros not Junior College drop outs who want free travel and coaching on Paulson's dime. That gig is up.

It's hard to say. We're talking kids in middle school here, so much variance in physical development. CFC, in their march to the State Cup, deployed several players who looked old enough to shave. I'm *NOT* accusing them of cheating, and assume these were all legit 08s, but in three years these early bloomers may well be surpassed.

And TA has, in the past, spent a lot of time and $$$ training youngsters who didn't pan out. Some were early bloomers physically--bigger and faster than their peers at a young age, but soon were caught. Some were early bloomers mentally--more mature (and capable of a more robust training regimen) than their peers, and also later caught. Some were earlier developers of motor skills. And some kids who got to TA lost interest--decided that the training regimen of the pro track was not for them, and they'd rather play Fortnite.

Unless a thirteen-year-old is a black swan talent-wise, and I can't think of any in Oregon's 08 class who are, best to provide more widespread opportunities then pick 20 or so kids at this age to receive focused training, only for 2/3 of them to wash out by 16.

Don't twist this please, but if any locals are picked they are guaranteed free travel, food, uniforms & training & in most cases a quick exit after 1 year onboard.

The coaching or focused training is not anything different or better than what's available at nearly any competitive local club (notice I didn't say elite).

The weekly MLS Next competition will be much better than playing in our state or the one off exchange playdates in Mt. Rainer or Boise. It makes no sense to invest thousands in locals that really have no chance of being pros in the world market of Football.

So, refreshing to hear the Timbers are finally getting wise about their futile efforts of ole, after a decade of not bringing anything of sustenance to the dinner table.

Lessons learned from a global pandemic.

It seemed like CFC had several new players for the state cup. You can see their games from spring on mycujoo.tv and compare to the games from state cup if you would like.

Cal north backup gk gifted them 2 goals on sat.

Alaska team was barely a recreational team.

08s.were not that impressive...competition was garbage.

                  Sorry.

After cal north had easily scored 2 goals in the first 10min of match

Alaska team was barely a recreational team. Put 20 past them not a stretch.

They got Alaska for 16, lol. Against Cal North, Washington 1 and 2 they were dominant. To say they were not impressive is pure BS.

You’re actually on here bragging about scoring 16 goals on a team in a “friendship cup?” Congrats on giving the 01 girls and 05 boys parents some competition as the most clueless parent base out there.

Cal north ran over them, until they emptied their bench for the 2nd half and decided to put a stationary cone in goal.Alaska is a rec team. Wa 1 & 2 dont feature any of their states best talent due to becnl.
No b.s. --you are so clueless and its impressive.

'08 Oregon boys teams did not do so great in Boise. Not super surprised when the 3 top teams at this age weren't there. Just goes to show you can't mess around in State Cup.
