Has there been any official release on U12 ECNL yet? EDP flights are out for the fall and there are many things that don’t make sense at the U12 level.
My daughter plays at one of the clubs mentioned above, and we’ve been told that u12 will have ECNL and ECRL this year. Our team will be playing Also be playing EDP, so two leagues.

Still nothing from ECNL here on this topic? When do they generally release flights and/or schedules? Matchfit U-12’s are flighted in EDP.

Is your D on the ECNL team that will also play EDP? Or wil they have players from both teams get extra time in EDP? Just curious if they explained the reasoning behind adding the extra league.

Same team playing both. Just getting extra play in for the fall since the team is fairly new.

Makes sense and helps get minutes for kids who may not start ECNL games. Since you cant roster on both ECNL and ECRL, the way around it is to field the team in a USYS carded league. Might even be a proving ground for RL kids trying to get promoted, too.

This discussion is regarding 11 year olds playing ECNL? Doesn’t that seem rather young for that kind of play? Especially to be playing in two leagues. Sounds like some of these clubs really like to push these young players.

Oh yea. U12-13 is now where it starts. Although even a few years ago the EDP league had a lot more travel than necessary and many teams were doing insane out of state tournaments.

playing in two leagues is absurd no matter what the leagues are. Wait until all this overuse starts to catch up with them later in middle school/early high school. As puberty hits them their bodies start to fail them.

Do you need to be traveling that much for 11-12 year old soccer? Of course not. Also keep in mind not every ECNL club is a good club and that age it's still all about the coaching, not so much the competition. Pick the best coaching.

Yes and some players are double carding for town too in addition to that

That’s the parents who live through their kids. Just wait until all the injuries start to happen because parents can’t let their kids rest because they need to be the best.

Ignore this advice other than the part about getting the best coaching.

In fairness, this only pertains to the critical few:
the best have been playing 5+ hours a day be it organized or street soccer since they were young. Injuries aren’t a concern nor is mental burnout for those who want it bad enough. And yes I’m talking about 11-12 year olds. There is no burnout for the real passion. Yes, parents are guilty of re-living it through their kids. But 20 years from now the next Pulisic or Carli Lloyd will be talking in their interviews about how they had to be dragged off the field.
