Red Bulls ruin far more players before U15 than they turn out. 60% of the pre-academy is cut before U12 and maybe 10% of the players are still there by U15. If you look at their 3 big promotions this year they claim they are all Academy players but they all played 1 year. 2 cam from PDA and Bento came from CSA. Philly Union just signed a U14 player and stole him from RB. Their reputation is slipping among quality recruits since MLS next levels out the landscape.

If you point any of this out you sound like nothing but a jealous hater. Your best bet is to stay with a quality club that plays MLS next or ECNL until U13 to U15 and if the RB, NYCFC or PU etc come calling then make your decision.

It is also the reason why dead end clubs like Union, Liverpool and even the mighty FA will be non existent at the U15 age group. EDP is the 3-4th tier at that age…You just have to scratch your head as to why there is so much bravado on this board for those teams.

Thank you but you didn’t answer my question. At what age is it free ? Eventually if the opportunity comes I’d like to know. Thank you for you answer though :)

Red Bull academy is free. The pre-academy costs money. The pre-academy runs through u-12. The academy starts when they move to 11v11 at u13. If you are good enough, and they want you bad enough they do waive fees for pre-academy players.

Is it maybe that these clubs actually train and develop the players, not just poach them to join when they are already good (like RB)? And it because they are not a mess and disorganized like other clubs and also offer a lot? Between FA, Union & Liverpool, they all join a lot of tournaments, offer extensive training, etc.

FA, Union and Liverpool are the prime example clubs of win now so they they can get the next group of 5year olds with parents interested in winning. Don’t use a word like “Poach” though. That is basically saying that the kids who go to RB, PDA, STA etc. and their parents are stiolen away from these clubs making them the victims. I assure you that these kids and parents go willing and even seek out the clubs for a better opportunity.

The talented kids in these programs will all be moving on very soon and rightfully so! I’m pretty sure the coaches for these programs realize this too. Until any of those clubs join an upper level league like MLS, USL or ECNL, they are just going to continue to be a first step club.

Union and Liverpool are clubs that each have a good 2011 boys team. Overall, as a club, they don't have solid teams at each age group. Realistically, They don't have a high end team at any other age group in their clubs anywhere. They aren't clubs trying to "get the next group of 5 year olds with parents interested in winning". They are mainly just concerned with the winning/development of those exact teams.

How can you be #3 in the state when 2011 rankings don't even begin until the fall?

MF Shore swears by those rankings and will use them for as long as they can. Funny thing is, if they fall far from the top spot they will post the rankings mean nothing.
