    Tryout etiquette:

    HI-

Dad here with a stupid question I already know the answer to...

If your child tries out for a Premiere club, is there any sort of expectation for an email to let you know your kid

    DID NOT MAKE THE CUT?

Am I some sort of ******* expecting these teams coaches to let you know in a certain period of time? or ever?

It seems to me like coaches and clubs have too much power, and feel that they can get away with being rude (Because they can)

How long have you been waiting? I imagine on their end they do not want to provide a premature no and many sort through top age groups to bottom how many teams, positions, and who’s offered/accepted playing up an age.

We waited 2 weeks before hearing.

Depends on how many showed up. If there were 24 kids for 18 spots, then sure. If 56 kids showed up for 18 spots, then not hearing within a week is probably your answer. It also gets complicated if there are assessors, who are not the coaches of the teams. As with everything else, it's contextual

Dummy tryouts were months ago. If you haven’t heard within 2 days after tryouts then know your kid is horrible and the fact you are still wondering months later makes you a moron

There’s probably a nicer way to say that. Disagree on the 2 day timeframe unless you are talking U12 and up where things are well settled on the A teams. Less than U12 can take longer because of variables second poster mentioned.

It is rude and not hard for them to say ""thanks for coming but we are unable to your player a spot at this time."

But hiring managers ghost interviewees all the time. Society has just become increasingly disrespectful of others.

My recent college grad is still looking for a job and this happens all the time to him and all his friends. It's not like when we were looking a million years ago and they had to mail a letter to you - sending an email takes two seconds. It's also teaching a generation not to send thank yous for the interview. They figure if a company doesn't care why should they.

the short and quick of it

if your kid is a stud
they invited her to the try-out and she is already on the team
or they would offer her on the field
                  ( player 1-5)

                  if your kid is good
within a week- they would offer
                  (player 6-14)

                  if your kid is OK

you may have to wait longer but know that you are a bench player and you may want to drop down a level, so you get game time

                  (everyone else)

In our experience it depends on age as well. Younger kids they may invite some to practice and then after a few sessions give you the wink wink "please come to tryouts" and you already know they have a place for you. Within 24-48 hours you have an invitation.

As you get older it gets more complicated but a top player is being actively courted by the club/coach so there is no tryout. If you train once or twice and impress, they're straight up telling you before you get to the parking lot they want your kid.

Finally, don't worry about how fast they invite you unless its clear you were last choice. That means 1. they didnt see the fit/value and/or 2. they have roster instability and kids turning them down. Buyer beware.

This guy gets it.. If you have to wait that long for correspondence, it's a bad sign and is probably a harbinger of a bad year even if they do offer.

And the best part, which needs to be added, is that once you do sign please remember they are then actively looking for someone better, anyway.

I have seen people assume their kid was a solid member just because the club recruited them. Then a year later they're confused as to how the kid is being dropped down, not realizing that making it today doesnt mean they will want you tomorrow and the top ECNL or GA clubs are always looking for upgrades no matter what.

It’s crazy how commonplace this sort of response (or lack of response) is becoming. If they didn’t get the job; just tell them.

Should everyone who didn't win the Powerball be informed individually that they didn't win the Powerball?
