The comments on this board in regards to UWS are reflective of the attitude towards women’s sports in general. The UWS is most likely the second best league in the country after the NWSL. The league is filled with Division I and former collegiate players. The UWS has many players that go on to play in the NWSL. It would be great to see more support for these women in general. Congratulations to the CT Fusion! They have represented CT well!

Agree with you, but you can also see how a few losers even bash the Hartford Athletic for existing and also doing well in the standings and keeping the stands filled. I suspect these downers are affiliated with other large soccer clubs who feel on the outside looking in as the soccer landscape changes at the top locally.
I do wonder how the W league will impact the Fusion but for now it’s nice to see there’s room for people to build a career (alongside their other job) beyond the 200ish ladies that will play professionally in the NWSL. Not affiliated and never been to a game.

The only times Americans care about women's soccer is for the big international events and that's because they like that the team always wins. Anything other than that gets scant attention. We're not a soccer country, we're not a female sports country. Even the WNBA can't get anywhere after years of the NBA helping a much more popular sport.
Fusion went 5-2-3 and finish in 3rd place in the NE. CT Rush went 5-4-1 and are in 6th. Fusion faces Midwest United next who are 9-0-1.

The NWSL struggles to stay alive and gain any relevancy. The pay is a joke aside from a few star players. This is little more than a women's summer league. Sorry but it is. If you have to work other jobs to make ends meet are you really a "professional" soccer player?
