Maybe it’s time for the GA & ECNL parents to start using more common sense to see if a patch on a jersey is really worth it

What you really want for your kid is options; pick of colleges, pick of majors, pick of soccer programs/coaches, etc. When people say you don't need ECNL or MLS if your player is good enough, it's just the opposite. If your kid is good enough, then you really want ECNL or MLS because that is how a good player will get maximum exposure so that they will have options to pick from. You just don't want your club coach to call his old room mate that now coaches at Random College University to put in a good word for your kid and that is their only option.

It’s a lot of work and diligence from the child and parent. If you think playing ECNL is an automatic roster position on a D1 team, I have a bridge to sell you.

My kid played CDL, FSPL, and FCL. We spent countless hours editing hudl film for video, sending emails to coaches, letting the coached know about tournaments, and even attending a FEW id camps the coaches invited my kid attend. She ended up a mid major D1. Takes ALOT of work and effort. It has noting to do with just playing ECNL or GAL. You still gotta do the work even if your kid plays in those leagues.

But to say this is blatantly wrong: "It has noting to do with just playing ECNL or GAL."
RICHMOND, VA (November 25, 2019) – The 2019 women’s college soccer regular season saw alums from the ECNL Girls have their biggest on-field impact in history, with growth in the incredible total number of players in the Power 5, and in the stunning impact these players are having.
The ECNL College Impact chronicles the unprecedented influence of ECNL alums as leaders at the collegiate level, showcasing their achievements and overall effect on the game both on and off the field. The facts from the 2019 season solidify the ECNL’s undisputed role in creating the country’s leading environment for player development, and in being more than a league when it comes to impact on women’s soccer in the United States.
Consistent with previous years, ECNL Alums have again overwhelmingly dominated the 2019 individual conference honors in the “Power 5” conferences – the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC), Big Ten Conference, Big 12 Conference, Southeastern Conference (SEC), and the Pac-12 Conference. In total, there are over 1,100 ECNL Alums playing in these five conferences, accounting for more than 62% of all rostered players in the Power 5.
When you take into account that of the remaining roster spots (38%), a very high number of players are from outside the U.S. and did not play club in the U.S. then that leaves GAL and everything else - maybe making up 15-20% of remaining spots.
