ECNL is a controlled league funded by a group of academies. ECNL is no different than what the European Super League tried to pull off. Until we have a statewide champions league where the top teams from each league come together this conversation will continue. LOLComment

ECNL was founded by like minded clubs that were highly successful and were ranked/rated the best in all for regions. Clubs like PDA/FC Stars were done with traveling up to 2 hours to play against club/dams and beat them consistently in non competitive matches. They wanted to set up a league of like minded well run clubs to play regionally and then nationwide. It became widely successful very quickly because of the quality of clubs involved and how they attracted the best players. That was the intent of the league. The cracks began wen they expanded ad brought in lessor quality clubs who are not as competitive as the original first tier clubs. It’s not a league intended for every player. The best players will thrive and the rest will only succeed based on how they handle the mental and physical pressure to play to the players highest level of development which differs from each player. Parents don’t want to hear this but competitive players statewide from different leagues, different leagues as a whole are not as competitive vs. top ECNL teams.
