    Did FP kill Largo

Did FP kill off Largo the rest of the way with them holding tryouts there when the fields are up in the air?? Last nights showing at the Largo complex just showed how bad people look at largo. They were trying to get kids from the age of 2011 to play up with the 2009 birth year just so AS could have a team.

They promised all the coaches there would be 18 teams at the fields for a min and that all the teams from the Largo season would be returning. I am here to let you know that did not happen in fact they lost the academy program to other clubs as well as the 2010 team did not return as many of their players went to find other clubs with the fear of Largo not keeping the fields and having to go to Tarpon to train or somewhere else.

The older players that were with the club back in the TBU days and then the change to largo and now to FP just see this as another change that won't work just like TBU didn't so they left.

In the long run, FP coming in hurt Largo and helped other clubs grow and they did not have to wait till they left for them to get new players the fact of largo lying to people and not trusting AS to have the clubs best interest has finally put the dagger in their heart.

Here is to hoping the city sees this and helps them decided to put someone new into that complex that will grow the sport back to what it was in the old days.

Did someone's kid not get picked and you are now spewing lies. FP is at Largo and had a great turn out. They have many players returning and will grow more with the additional tryout dates they set. Get your kid some lessons or put them in a rec league and understand not all are cut out for club.

Says the club that denies on Talking Soccer marking that they have ECNL girls, but on their Twitter page and tryout page go out of their way to suggest they have it. Ok I

Hey I got a better one how about they brought their team to a President's cup game today that had 13 kid on the roster last week and this week they had 19. can anyone guess where the 6 kids that joined that team played. They played for the boys ecnl team and controlled the whole game for the team. It is sad when you can't win all season then go into a state tournament and as soon as you can add players you take 6 ecnl kids to add them in a tournament that ecnl teams can't play in. what does that say for the club

so you are trying to say we are cheating by bringing kids that are on the roster to play in a game they are scheduled. How about you take your loss and move on. We were the stronger team from what it sounds like. I guess your team needs to work on their skill or be glad we ended it for them so they don't move on and get humiliated by another team in the next round or nationals.

Was wondering how a FCL2/CDL Div 2 team is in Presidents Cup finals. Makes sense. Respect all?

FP could start with respecting the game. Sure you can roster those ECNL kids on a lower division team. That must be that world class development that FP is boasting about. All so they can brag on social media about winning Presidents Cup. What a joke.

Also didn’t realize how much PCU is all over TS.

The President's Cup rosters were frozen back in February. No teams can add players to them now. I know because we had 2 new players in our team that came from another club but we were not allowed to add them after the roster was frozen. So unless they bribed the commissioners these players had to be rostered back in February.

Florida Premier represents everything that is wrong with youth soccer. They are dragging the game into the gutter.

You are missing the point, these kids were already rostered.

The problem is not that they bribed the commissioners or rostered them late. They didn't. It's who they put on the roster in February. You can have 22 on the Presidents Cup roster. 18 active for game day. If you have a team that has played all year with 13-14 players on it to begin with, you can fill out the rest of the roster in case you need them as long as they are not registered on another team in that competition. FP just decided to fill out the roster with players from their top ECNL team. Some of their BEST players in the club. They did this on a 2nd Division CDL team back before the February deadline roster freeze for President's Cup. When they came up against tougher competition, they brought out more of the ECNL players to win. That's what they did.

President's Cup is the 2nd tier of state tournaments. The State Cup is the top level of competition and for good reason. If you have the best players at your Club participating in a tournament, roster the ECNL players for State Cup. If you are rostering the best players in your club to a lower level team to bring in ringers to play President's Cup, surely you can see how that messes with the integrity of the tournament.

Could it be for injury reasons or to fill out the roster? Sure. Should ECNL players even be playing in this competition at all? Questionable. But when as many as 6 players are on the field from one of the best teams in Florida that haven't played on that team all year until President's Cup, I'm sure you would agree that it could have an effect the outcome of the game.

Can they do it, yes, but it's a questionable move that undermines competition. Luckily they lost in the Finals and will not be moving on (they didn't bring all the players they had playing the day before). Keep in mind that if they had won, they would be able to reset their roster for the next level of competition, and I just wonder what that would look like.

If you don't see the problem in rostering a large group of players from one of the best ECNL teams in the state to a President's Cup roster for a lower team, then I think you are missing the point.

A good and important question. President's Cup is looked at as the level below State Cup, but higher competition than Commissioners Cup.

                          From FYSA Website:

"Our state tournaments are designed for soccer teams in Florida to participate in a season-ending event against similar competition. The three events (Commissioner's Cup, Presidents Cup, and State Cup) provide different levels of play based on age and skill level."

                          President's Cup:
"The Florida Presidents Cup, proudly sponsored by Publix, is designed for those teams seeking additional challenges to PLAY AGAINST TEAMS OF SIMILAR ABILITIES for a national title. The cup provides a progressive, competitive experience to teams that might not otherwise get the opportunity to participate in a series of unique experiences highlighting competition, camaraderie and community from the state to regional to national levels of US Youth Soccer."

                          State Cup:
"The Florida State Cup, proudly sponsored by Publix, is the first leg of the US Youth Soccer National Championship Series and is the HIGHEST PREMIERE COMPETITION AT THE STATE LEVEL. The National Championship Series is the country's most prestigious national youth soccer tournament, providing approximately 185,000 players on over 10,000 teams from US Youth Soccer State Associations the opportunity to showcase their soccer skills against the best competition in the nation while emphasizing teamwork, discipline and fair play."

However they did not field their ECNL team in President's Cup. They fielded a FCL2 team and loaded it with ECNL players. Keep in mind, there is no evidence of roster violations, but if you are fielding a team with a large group of ECNL players, I don't think that you are "playing against teams of similar abilities." Especially if you are only bringing in the strong players to play against the better competition for a game or two.

No dog in this fight. I just think it's bad for youth soccer.

It is obvious Florida Premier is fueled by greed and their over-sized egos.

All the central Pinellas families that wanted to be Celtic are already Celtic. Celtic to the Largo fields? Not wanted. Not needed.
