Thanks. I think this is what the club is referring to but they're calling it MLS Next II.

yup just branding it to be closer to MLS Next since thats the draw for many families and it will allow coaches to give offers for the "MLS Next Program" and then stick your kid on the B team later.

Im sure they will just change the name of the Elite academy league to MLS next II. Eal is just a bunch of b teams from Gottchee, Met oval, etc. All their top tems play in MLS next. Except for the Slammers, theses are the slammers top teams playing in EAL.

yeah agree. but also i believe the idea is that there is more ability to have roster movement between one team and the other - maybe like the old (shortly lived) U12 da teams. roster movement u13+ was severely constrained in the da system. cynically of course it's hey join a mls next club and reach for the stars as others have pointed out, but that will always be the case as long as we're all pay to play.

They are mostly the 2nd teams of their respective clubs - with the exception of LI Slammers, who aren't an MLS Next club, so their top teams play in EAL. Slammers 06, 05, and 04 have quite a few of the former Cosmos DA players. Clubs are allowed to send a certain number (I think 4) of their MLS Next players to play on the EAL teams on a game-to-game basis. Competition isn't bad, but obviously not quite to the level of MLS Next.

Also heard that MLS II will have same national events as MLS I increasing exposure for those teams and creating a bigger pool for actual MLS teams to identify players.

Having watched a bunch of eal games, no the teams are not good. some of the teams are actually horrible. Edp is much better.

Anyone on a current EAL team that can share some insight?

not affiliated with the club but still get their emails - beachside soccer in CT is labeling their 21-22 tryouts for mls next 1 & 2.

"U13 & Older Teams will compete in the MLS NEXT Platform:
MLS NEXT I & II League: Highest Level of Youth Soccer in our Country."

will be interesting b/c mls next still runs like old DA program. so is this branding or will there actually be interaction between team 1 & 2?
