Groups picked for 2024 W Concacaf Gold Cup

On Monday evening, December 11, groups for the 2024 W Concacaf Gold Cup were selected. The tournament’s schedule, which begins with three groups of four teams each, is not yet entirely filled out, as each group has one remaining space for the winner of qualifying matches that have not yet happened. Nevertheless, Monday night’s draw gives fans a good idea of what to expect from the 2024 tournament, which will feature teams from both Concacaf and CONMEBOL.

Group A features the United States at the top, with Mexico and Argentina slotted behind respectively. The group’s fourth competitor will be either Guyana or the Dominican Republic. Group B contains, in order, Brazil, Panama, Colombia, and the future winner of Haiti v. Puerto Rico. And group C lines up Canada, Costa Rica, Paraguay, and whoever wins in a face-off between El Salvador and Guatemala. While the groups may appear top-heavy, the early eliminations in the 2024 World Cup of Concacaf and CONMEBOL behemoths like the United States, Canada, and Brazil, remind players and fans alike that anything can happen.

Revisit Rachael Kriger’s earlier piece about the tournament to learn about each team’s journey to the Gold Cup and the players that helped get them there.
