The Seattle Sounders defeated the Los Angeles Galaxy 3-1 to advance to the semifinals of the 2011 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup. The two teams were battling for the last spot in the round, with the Sounders joining the Chicago Fire, FC Dallas and USL PRO Richmond Kickers, who won their respective quarterfinal matches last night.
