King and Pierce county teams are considered still in the Green Zone until Monday, and therefore, are eligible to play at Starfire. All current Green Zone teams are eligible to play at Starfire on Oct. 17 & 18”.

“We still have plenty of flexibility to complete an eight-game fall season. One fallback position: complete a six-game season by mid-December, or later.

There is still plenty of opportunity to complete a fall season as we look beyond this two-week pause, so we should keep positive and hopeful. At the same time, we understand COVID safety concerns could scuttle a season for everyone. But like you all, we can only plan for two-weeks out until health officials say otherwise”.

So they are playing this weekend it appears.

Seattle Celtic seems to be providing the most concrete info. Portion of a longer email sent on Thursday (note that this is just applicable to City of Seattle fields):

Tuesday, the state risk assessment dashboard jumped to 74.1 which was close to the 75 threshold under which we have to be for games to go ahead. We are aware there is a King County dashboard but all outdoor recreation organizations have been instructed to follow the state one.

Wednesday, the city informed us that should it go above 75 no games would be permitted this weekend which is why we emailed yesterday about planning on practices for Oct 17/18.

This morning, the city informed us that games are permitted this weekend but will not be permitted from Oct 19 until at least Nov 2. The state dashboard will be updated again Nov 1 which will be the determining factor for games beyond that point.

Sound is based out of woodinville, which is king county and should not be playing.

They are following the state dashboard per the updated guidelines. Everyone knows it lags almost 2 weeks and that County numbers are higher, but I guess they have found a loophole that allows them to play this weekend before shutting it down on Monday for 2 weeks. Almost like the Governors office is asleep at the wheel...

These decisions are not intended to be made on a daily or hourly basis, as that's totally ridiculous and unrealistic. The governor has clarified that. Review on the 1st and 15th of each month is how it's been amended --so we can actually go about and plan our lives. Imagine that. (Still think this metric is ridiculous. Sorry, I don't think the frat system spiking should impact whether my kid can have a life and play. Penalize the frats, not our kids.)

Right, and whether kids get to play in Seattle or Shoreline or Bellevue or Issaquah or Kirkland can play shouldn't depend on the relatively high case rates in Maple Valley, Federal Way, Auburn and Kent either. Standards driven by the school district or city level would make a lot more sense than lumping all of King County together.

Sound covers two counties: king and snohomish. They chose to use the snohomish indicator and was able to allow some teams to play. Depends on the numbers in the two counties, this could change. But I am betting on the crazy frat kids to keep the king county numbers up.

If inslee doesn't change the metric system this soccer season is done. The numbers per 100k went up the past 2 weeks but what the story doesn't tell is that a record number of people were tested because the capability went up. The % of people testing positive over the past few weeks actually dropped to the lowest number since this all started and sits at 2.1% positive test rates.

Post election is the best we can hope for. Then the miracles can start happening and our fearless leader let children play.
