KingCo 4A Varsity Girls Soccer Season

Across the state, Washington High schools have just wrapped up tryouts and will be cramming 7 practices in before official league matches begin. This will be a forum to share info and dish on the KingCo Girls 4A Varsity sides—Skyline, Woodinville, Issaquah, North Creek, Mt. Si, Redmond, Bothell, Eastlake, Inglemoor and Newport

On paper, IHS looking pretty good, 9 returning seniors including 4 players from ECNL teams and four from GA teams. 11 7 juniors, all from Eastside or XF ECNL teams, albeit one injured, 4 sophomores, all from Eastside, two ECNL players and two ECRL players. And one Frosh keeper, Ebba from XF 2010 ECNL. How are the other rosters in the conference shaping up?

definitely not true on the girls side. I think there is a rumor that ECNL was going to move to restrict HS play, but when the DA died, I believe such restrictions died with it. My understanding now is that only the MLS academies on the boys side are prohibiting HS play.

Let’s maybe not name minors directly on an anonymous chat forum?

Hmm. High school rosters are public. Journalists regularly cover high school soccer. In the other hand, I see a lot of low-brow personal attacks on this forum, so I can see why folks might not like to see specific names here. Certainly disparaging a high school athlete on a personal level would be inappropriate and potentially damaging to him or her.

So thinking it through, I agree, given the lack of moderation here, we should not name names. I apologize for mentioning the freshman standout at Issaquah by name. Won’t happen again.

21 on the roster? Is that typical?

No official limits on roster size for girls soccer in WA. HS rosters do tend to be a little bigger than club rosters.

Until last year, boys top team XF players were “highly discouraged “ to play high school soccer. Last year they let them play. Rumor is that they will be discouraged again but not sure.

It’s not a negative post. See zero issue

Why? Cavan Sullivan is a minor and he's talked about all day long.

I think we’re looking weaker than last year. The new players we picked up don’t come from a very good eastside team and aren’t even their good players. Keeper is TBD but that 2010 team is strong. This year may be more about how much better/worse the other teams look. Skyline graduated a bunch off last year.

What is up with the schedule? A good chunk of the games are against 3A clubs, might help with injuries as we should be able to rest up more against the smaller schools
