And yes EWA EPD is awful. They've spent many years ruining whatever was left of trying to make it work. They didn't even have enough kids come out to field teams this year. My DD didn't show up either.

First time I heard of this. Hope the guy can turn EPD around, but to be honest it might be too late. The whole OPD system seems to be on a steady, slow, decline.

If you want to compete and get even near the best kids make it free instead of using it to subsidize salaries. If you are serious, there should probably be practices at least once a week as well. And, novel concept, try to actually communicate and keep your own deadlines with parents.

So this guy is a DOC, coaches HS Boys and Girls teams, is an engineering supervisor for the city AND is going to be the EPD/State Cup Director? I hope he is going to relinquish at least two of those preceding roles or this reaks of WYS trying to pay someone a part time wage for a full time job. In other words, this guy will be competent over-tasked and the program will continue to deteriorate until it meets its impending demise.
Ray is the right person for this job. He will bring the respect and excitement back to the EPD program. He owes nothing to any of the big clubs. Thus, he clear to do what is best for the program. This will be his baby. I believe better times are ahead for EPD.
