Spokane facilities district just voted to go with the USL team instead of MLS Next Pro. Was the plan really to just have the Defiance play in Spokane? Seems to be a reach. Wonder where they play now since the Tacoma stadium deal is dead. I guess they can just find a local park since they don’t need to worry about fan capacity.

Why this rant is in a thread about YOUTH soccer (this is a level above MLS Next; most of the players in MLS Next Pro will be adults), I've no idea--other than perhaps some local club grifter who is tired of losing top players to the Sounders, and is engaging in the usual tiresom "MLS is eevul" gripes.
Well sir, you are blind. It is 100% about youth soccer and the U-19 replacement league that has just been created. MLS isn't evil, it's a league who's championship game featured 2 Americans in the final. The league cares nothing about US soccer and this is another step in creating another poor pathway for kids too young to decide if they are pro players or not. The USL was/is actually doing well, MLS just couldn't have it's team losing so they created another league.

And both of them were the goalies. :)

That said.. MLS doesn't seem to act like they care if the U19 makes money. Academy teams (that are about development) and pro teams (that are about selling tickets and winning games for fans) are two different things, and I'm not really sure how this hurts USL all that much; the teams that they lost generally aren't as big of draws as the fully-professional teams that remain.
