Oregon ECNL is where the folks who are afraid of competing for a spot, afraid of competing against high level competition (almost all the time) and are afraid that mommy and daddy can't buy a coach, doc, starting spot go and stay. In short, you are afraid your DD can't live up to the hype that spews out of your mouths, and for good reason.

As for the management at these Oregon ECNL clubs, they thrive on this! They love your money and they sell you on college exposure, they sell you on HS sports and they sell you on "friends". None of this sounds like development and if you look at high quality prospects who've been in the program for several years you'll see a total lack of development in comparison to their peers who are at other clubs in the area. Also, if you look at what's elevated these teams recently, it's the infusion of properly developed players from other clubs like WT*C, GPS, Eastside and Westside. Kudos to CU for good recruiting, but please, don't try to tell anyone it's because of development, that just makes you look like a horrible imbecile.

Primarily because you'd have a benchmark and realize that your DD doesn't stack up to the real talent in the area - which is still mediocre on a good day. Or better yet, those of you that do, realize you get out maneuvered by other parents with tighter connections into ODP. I've enjoyed watching people like you make excuses for lack of play time or not making ODP top teams. It's truly been my pleasure. I'm a patient person and I'm willing to watch patiently as you start making excuses for your DD in the upcoming years and why she no longer wants to play college soccer - cause you'd have to eat a big helping of humble pie if you signed with a program that actually fit your DD's skill level.

The "Timbers Lemming Caveman" didn't even mention GDA in his/her post, you slobbering imbecile. Instead, s/he claimed that ECNL is inferior to the OYSA clubs, and the only real value ECNL (at least the Oregon clubs) brings to the table is access to recruiters.

But obviously--if CU and FCP were so great at developing their own talent, they wouldn't need to go spreading FUD like a farmer spreading manure in this chatroom. Instead, we get this ridiculous years-long campaign to try and convince soccer parents that their DD will be doomed to playing soccer at the local community college if they don't bolt their current club and join one of the ECNL programs. If the ECNL clubs had all the talent they needed, and provided superior coaching, then there would be no reason to recruit kids from other clubs.

US Soccer is frequently clueless, and the GDA's implementation has been botched in many ways. But it has performed a valuable service in helping to bust up US Club's attempt to corner the market on college recruitment, and it's for that reason that such a scorched-earth campaign is being waged against the GDA by an arrogant league who thinks that they alone should get to occupy the top of the girls' youth soccer pyramid.

Otherwise, why would ECNL clubs and coaches care? They're terrified the gravy train is going to be shut down. You know it, we all know it.
