Having local DA team families spending thousands of dollars to travel and play similar average youth teams is hardly a noble or an honest endeavor, but it's crucial in the crusade of selling the dream of a (girls) scholarship! It seems to work on the weak minded and clueless wealthy parents in our area. It's awesome to watch it unfold this last year at a couple of also ran clubs. It's their money, let them do as they wish. Rationalizing this decision by attacking Ecnl Soccer, pretty wells sums it up. Thorns is subsidized for now but most of the clubs are not.

If a little girls kiddo soccer league of 50 to 80 member youth soccer clubs is able to take over all adult & youth Soccer in the United States by all means use the ECNL label instead.

Until such time, US Soccer is headquartered in Chicago and controls all National teams from cradle to the grave with even more control over the entire nation's coaching education program.

Please let us know when this vagabond league with a few affiliate youth club members is re named US Soccer and gains the power and the prestige you can only dream of, your stupidity on this subject is refreshing but not unexpected.

US Soccer 'DA' seems to work for the idiot directors at irrelevant clubs like BSC, Capital, WashT, Westside, Eastside, FC Portland and pseduo club Crossfire. They actually believe being in the US Soccer DA (even the little metro one) is the ultimate end game. They all bought in and are just so happy to market it to their neighborhood ilk.

Which begs the question?

Why didn't US Soccer tap FC Portland or the Crossfire U group for inclusion in the the Girls DA?

Especially when the male arm of each program(FC & XF)went crazy just trying to get in to the 'little tiny 7 team local boys DA'.

Truth is US Soccer DA is the gold standard for youth.

You would think with their over the top enthusiasm for 'Portland area little DA' the Nationwide Big DA would be the second coming of Christ for an aspiring elite player.

Actions of clubs locally tell the complete story. They want to be part of US Soccer's DA no matter how insignificant the level, so they are.

US Soccer did invite both FCP and CU to join the GDA and both intelligently said "Not on your life". So US Soccer had to go to their 3rd choice, the struggling, inept, but money hungry Thornz Asylum. And there they found their gullible victim. And the rest is history.

In most age groups, Cu Ecnl, then Thorns Academy. Both ecnl & academy are good options if you want exposure and one of top teams in Oregon.
