That's called the commercial side of things and the South Texas local clubs get shut out instead FC Dallas gets pd?
South Texas youth soccer gets nothing and FC Dallas & MLS get paid off the efforts of local non-profit clubs that developed the players.
Timbers aren't making any monies off our local kids (becoming pros) like the other academies. They built a different model to provide service to our remedial state. They are here to help us get on our feet since we blow up everything we touch. See OPL.....
It's just how things work in this bass ackward country when it comes to soccer.

Simply bad for the game.
Doesn't mean that the Timbers/Thorns academy is good or bad or that the people working for them are good or bad.
Eastside in Seattle had the DA and later backed out when they realized the costs of having a DA.

US soccer has to be considered the biggest embarrassment of all national teams. You start the Development Academies and force kids to choose between high school and club soccer. It's been 10 years and this is what we have to show for it. We can't qualify in the worst qualifier

Travel cost 6 trips x 16 kids x $500 cost = $48,000 cost.
Looks like families are paying for travel.
So what. Just move on.
It's kind of an open secret but it's still less than the cost of ECNL by 1500 or so.

Plus they get discounts on travel probably from Alaska Airlines so that probably cuts the cost down some.
