Hopefully the GDA competition is good enough to get them ready to have a meaningful college career. If not, that decision is going to look terrible in hindsight. Unfortunately, Surf Cup demonstrated that some of Thorns' league opponents are abysmal."

Lots of reports of thorns girls of all ages at high school sports. Must have if nally came to their senses and ended the rediculously stupid ban on high school sports. At least one good move.

-Prohibition on charging a try out fee.
-Prohibition on outside competition.
Doubt anyone is worried.

Thorns have several national team players on the roster.
Tobin Heath is associated with the Thorn's DA Academy
The Thorns can do what they want and I don't think anyone is kicking the Thorns out of the GDA.
Crossfire Oregon and FC Portland will not get kicked out of ECNL regardless of their record.
It is a business and no one is turning away customers. Hopefully parents will one day understand that the term "elite" has nothing to do with being exclusive or special, but rather a marketing term used to justify a higher cost to parents.

Wouldn't Tobin want them to follow the rules set forth by US Soccer? The other GDA teams in their league are following the rules. I'm sure Thorns will too.

No. Of course it isn't. Tobin spending her rehab time as an academy liaison or whatever her title is doesn't do one thing to improve on player's skills or chances to play in the pros. The thorns pro team having national team players doesn't make the academy teams any better. SURELY you see this. Soccer skills are not developed by osmosis.
Not particularly an ECNL fan either but at least they are being transparent that their goal is to get players seen by college coaches, recruited, and prepared to play in college. They aren't promising the impossible. By that measure they are a success. But by all means hang out with Tobin and see if some of that talent rubs off.

They can follow the rules or not. The sky is not falling.
I am thinking the Tobin Heath could care less about the rules set by US Soccer for the GDA. You seem very naive.

All I am saying this is a business and the Thorns have some leverage. US soccer is not going to take away the GDA from the Thorns. The Thorns are a marketing machine.
