US Soccer had always done a terrible job at development. They've done an awful job on the boys side. Sucking all the "joy" out of the game. Terrible they've gotten involved on girls side. Very sad.

DA is about a journey inasmuch results. Results may come later after the formula is followed. Patience is a virtue not to be taken for granted. Theres a joy to watching the struggle achieved.

Timbers are not good for youth soccer. They are a for profit corporation and such their job is to maximize profits. Unfortunate they are trying to expand their for profit model to girls soccer now.

How dare they! Subsidize the DA for boys & girls, they should charge 10K at least, it's not fair they are gifting the local girls this DA experience. Wait, they are the only outfit that was deemed worthy of getting as DA nod from US Soccer. It just makes me so upset the DA came into the US for Girls. It's ridiculous. Why did they reject our local neighborhood clubs application for the Girls DA and give it to the NWSL Thorns? Politics of course, just because our club couldn't subsidize it or have a coaching staff with at least 'B' licenses. It's wrong. I agree 100%

You are right. The Timbers are a for-profit company, but there is nothing wrong with that. This is the USA. If you want a piece of the youth sports pie, start your own for profit company and get involved. You certainly can't mess things up any more.

You are right. The Timbers are a for-profit company, but there is nothing wrong with that. This is the USA. If you want a piece of the youth sports pie, start your own for profit company and get involved. You certainly can't mess things up any more.

. . . .or support non-profit/community-owned soccer organizations. For-profit, non-profit, community owned can provide a "positive" piece of the pie.

However, unregulated monopolies (particularly for-profit ones) - what the Timbers appear to be driving for in Oregon - are bad for quality/customers.

We've seen the decline over the last 20 years in women's soccer when other Football countries began to allow women to play what the deemed a Men's only sport. The world and other countries love soccer/football like a religion, USA loves NFL, MLB, NBA, NASCAR, College Football, College Basketball and NHL. The sport of Soccer is a non-starter for nearly 99% of the American Sports Fan. Women's soccer in college doesn't even draw flys to attend. Pro women's soccer in the US is a travesty subsidized by US Soccer.

US Women doing well on the world stage has more to do with the rest of the world not getting behind female athletics. The few countries that have gotten behind the Women's game have passed US in tactics, coaching and development.

Our model has always been HS soccer & club Soccer competition.

If the women had to to walk into the same soccer world as men, they would suck also.

Comparing the challenges our men's team faces vs the women's is a laughable narrative.
