On the one hand, the GDA paperwork as released by Thorns academy said they are being "very careful" not to do anything that can interfere with a player's NCAA eligibility. On the other hand, this is Erik Lyslo and co, and they manage to screw everything up they touch. I would personally not want to bet my kid's future college eligibility on policies made by the same folks who have run Oregon ODP into the ground, promised an academy showcase tournament and delivered Beaverton cup, etc, etc, etc....but maybe the academy parents aren't concerned about college eligibility.

Nobody is forcing any girls to join GDA. It will be great for the very serious soccer player that puts soccer #1. If that's not your cup of tea, don't do it. I believe this new Academy choice for our girls is a great added option. I also like ECNL as an option for those that can afford it. Club travel teams have historically been just as good of an option if the player seeks out college recruiting opportunities. Do the best fit for you and be happy.
