You are along with every other family playing in OYSA. Oregon soccer is communist now. We are all expected to be thankful for the opportunity to pay the way for the superior players in thorns academy.

Sounds more like a dictatorship where the majority are forced to pay for the few. Didn't realize the Russian takeover was so complete already. I miss America.

Feel thankful you are allowed to monetarily support thorns academy. When the girls make the national team you'll have some ownership and pride knowing you helped them get there. Considering the skill level of your DD, this is the closest you will get to having a kid on the national team so be grateful.

That is exactly what is wrong. Your self assessment of your daughter's playing ability/future, you think by doing Thorns academy your daughter will be the next USWNT team player, but in the end you end up paying thousands of $$$ only to end up with a ride to Highline CC

With the volume of teams applying not everyone gets placed where they want. Whether that be Vegas, Surf, Dallas Cup etc

Thorns Academy (mainly the younger team) likely struggle to get placed because they have no State Cup history. Vegas has a lot of teams applying with far stronger claims to play in higher brackets due to ranking points and State Cup history and success. Doesn't look good on the Showcase organizers though if they get a team hammering all the other teams in the bracket however.

The older team have recently beaten 2 teams who are in the Tier 1 bracket while they are in Tier 2. Just the way it goes sometimes when you don't have a whole body of work and evidence to fall back on.

The irony is it appears the Eugene 01 team (who lost by double digits to the younger thorns team) has more challenging opponents in Vegas than thorns do. Sin City becomes Sandbag City!

It's not $20,000 per year. Not even close.

The parents and kids have no say in the showcase seeding. If the top brass feel it's developmentally superior to play B and C teams then we all have to trust the judgement call.

I'm sure the Thorns Academy knows what is best for these players. The Academy model is based on development, not wins. This year's TA teams get the bonus of the best development & the most wins.

Why did the thorns get such a bad draw. These games are not helpful.
