Local club history tells a different story, idiot parents at CU and FC PDX spend thousands and thousands each year for something nobody would 'want' to pay for...

Are you really that dense? the parents of the next mia's in this tiny marketplace are beyond naive, clueless and gulliable they fork it over to the clubs with no questions asked and if they ask questions they are asked to leave.

    Love it.

My kids play Oysa for an alliance club. Guess we pay for our kids and the Academy kids. Think they're getting a much better deal.

        Why are you so angry?

You should be happy since you are getting such a great deal at your club.

          Beaverton cup is embarrassing.

How did someone think this was a good idea?
How come the games don't count?

Well, it starts with playing down 2 age groups just to be competitive...

              But wins are important.

Why would the thorns spend money, miss school, and a weekend away to play such weak teams? That doesn't make any sense. I bet that's $600 or more per kid. They could do way better to set up a couple competitive local friendlies and keep that $600 * 16 = $9,600.00 in their pocket.

Is there any reason behind these decisions?

You're assuming they are paying out of pocket and not using $9600 of our club fees to underwrite the trip. School doesn't matter to future national team players so missing a few days is not a concern. Cheap easy wins are the thorns bread and butter. They are trying to build up a resume that will offset the demolishing losses they will experience if GDA ever gets off the ground.

Parents all over the Ecnl NW division are asking themselves the same questions when they play CU Ecnl 00 team.

My daughter plays ecnl but not so blind to see that the younger thorns team's are putting together some good talent that could easily challenge the local Ecnl teams. Take a look at the 2001 thorns, they are playing up a year (not down 2) in oysa and are undefeated. They just met up with the other undefeated team, FCP navy, and beat them easily 5-1. I would love to see them play a friendly against the two Ecnl teams.

Academy players get all expenses paid for by the rest of us schmucks in OYSA. Why wouldn't they travel as much as possible? They'll easily win their division in LV and have a great paid vacation. Missing school to play soccer is just a bonus. These girls are going pro. School isn't important.

Wow. Yes, you are correct. The younger thorns team is playing in the 00 bracket of the grossly watered down OYSA league and beat FC Portland's B team. Alert the media. They were also unable to beat the Eastside Washington team when playing on age in far west (0-0 tie). This same Eastside Washington team lost 3/0 to CFC's "02's playing in 01 league" team. So does that mean CFC >> Thorns == Eastside Washington?

Maybe but doesn't matter. Eugene's Shane & Co. say: Eugene 02s > Salem & Thorns Academy 02s combined. Claim Salem & TA 02s are "hiding in weak older divisions". Scared of Eugene's back line.

And Vancouver 02's beat Eugene 02's yesterday. So obviously:

Vancouver > Eugene > CFC > Thorns academy = Eastside Washington.
