Oh, wait, the was Pacific FC. It's hard to tell the difference.

True. But Pacific might be slightly better.

Why are the thornsz playing in OYSA? Seems counterproductive.

Just need to rack up some easy wins?

It's free, fun & easy wins. The question is: Why wouldn't they?

Yes, thanks to all the OYSA suckers underwriting our league fees so we can come in and humiliate you.

The "OYSA suckers" don't have a choice. They could tryout for TA or ECNL if they want. Where else can OYSA teams play?

You clearly don't understand youth girls soccer. Wins are the lifeblood of parents excitement. Parents write the checks. So winning is paramount. Playing tough competition is not important. Simple.

The girls parents are important. Keep the cash flowing in. Boys are getting a free ride.

Let's do a little math problem.

                      18 players +2 coaches+1 manager = 21 travelers.

Average estimated travel trip = $600

Estimated number of travel trips = 10

                      21x$600x10 = $126,000 travel costs

                      Normal club fees $1800 x 25 rostered players = $45,000

                      $126,000+$45,000 = $171,000

                      $171,000 x 3 Girls teams. = $531,000 cost annually for girls.

So the Timbers are going to cough up $531,000 per year for girls DA?

Shh...Thorns parents aren't interested in pesky things like logic. But since you asked, the 33% increase in player card fees we are all paying will cover $70k of this per year. So maybe we are the stupid ones after all.

Ecnl is 1k per trip you make. Generally with overloaded rosters your kid is getting around 40% time on the field with many players getting less then 30%.

That's around 25-30min a game. 3 games is 75min, again a lot of players don't get to play because of poor coaching and overloaded rosters.

The teams they are playing are incredibly bad or very good. The teams they play and lose 9-0 they don't touch the ball all game.

You are literally paying around $15 a minute on the field and considering how bad the teams from Oregon are you are paying around 30$ per touch on the ball.

You think I'm lying? Prove me wrong. Show facts that the teams from Oregon arent playing terrible teams or getting blown out.

Show facts that out of the kids traveling the kids are averaging over 25 min a game with some not playing at all.

You call this development? You think this helps recruitment?

You call yourself elite and relate yourself to a league but you are getting taken for fools.

I'm the OP and my kid doesn't do ECNL. She plays for a TA team and we are one of those fool families getting ripped off to subsidize thorns academy. She personally has no interest in doing ECNL or thorns academy. But not supporting ECNL costs me zero dollars. Not supporting thorns academy, on the other hand, will cost my club thousands next year in additional card fees. But nice job attempting to deflect from the main point.

                              Really?

Where's your proof? Provide a statement email from your club.

Explain what a 'card fee is, BTW.

Ask your DOC and/or look at the OYSA board meeting minutes approving fee increases. And "card fee," is the player card fees that every player must pay to play with OYSA, genius. They are increasing from $18/player to $24/player - a $6/player increase. Which I'm sure you will wittily reply is chump change...but with well over 10,000 Oregon players needing cards, that $6/kid adds up. It will cost Vancouver alone over $12,000. Which again brings me to my original point. I don't pay anything for my kid to not do ECNL. But thanks to the shysters running thorns academy and OYSA, my club will pay over $10k to support thorns academy - and we have no say in the matter. Enjoy your welfare, thorns parents.
