Many states didn't even send teams, those states that did had very few interested clubs participate to qualify for the event, that's why there are so many crossover games due to flights of only 2 and 3 teams when their should be 5, more wildcard spots than ever due to covid. Hopefully by next year the event gets back to where it was in past years. Glad they decided to hold the tourney at a smaller level this year, It's such a nice Bonus we can drive here!

What are you even talking about? You realize most states never really shut youth sports down like oregon did so don’t give us the covid watered down bs argument. Crossover games? There are 4 pools of 4 teams each at this age group and some states got wildcard teams to fill the 16 since there are only 13 states in our far west region. Opfc got one of those wildcards because they won the northwest champions league last year and Nevada got an extra team as well based on the states history of quality soccer as well. I just looked at the teams opfc and adf played and they are “ranked” very high by got soccer and have beat some very good teams from across the country. And before you start shredding got soccer it atleast is a measuring stick that many on here have used in the past and shows a teams pedigree and history against quality teams

Our kids age group and gender has forfeits and a group of 2 teams and another with 3. Covid did this. More of world is available to see if you open your eyes, zero perspective samo, samo...meant 4, instead of 5 on last post, big thumbs and bad eyes...got soccer? lol...thanks.

Using got soccer as a way to rank teams?

          I’m dying here

Got a better solution? It is merely a benchmark, it isn't fact. No different than any other ranking service in any other sport--amateur or professional.

People love to grasp at straws here...just so they can post something and feel good about the day. Like they actually achieved something.

Much better rankings. But 2020 screwed the cross over games a bit.

Lol...uh, yeah sure. That looks accurate. 6 Oregon teams in the top 20 for Region 4? Westside the 4th ranked team in Region 4? Get the F outa here.

A couple of reminders from Copa Dad, who isn't going to join in the p1ssing on the Oregon teams in Regionals.

                  1) Yes, USYS regionals ain't what they used to be, with many top clubs in other platforms such as MLS Next or BECNL.

                  2) That would be true regardless of who represented Oregon. The level of quality of the soccer in Boise would not magically change if WT or FC were there instead of OPFC and the F-Bombs.

                  3) At this point, it's about college (and having fun) for this age group. Many of the boys will be juniors so will be getting attention from the NCAA (which is not to say they will get a scholarship); the pros have already had their pick.

Now if you'll excuse me, we have a laser-engraved log slice to defend this weekend.

This is the gold standard across the country in the other regions because they actually use an algorithm (those that are arguing it’s accuracy will Have to look that word up) . Got soccer is arbitrary at best

                      Today in Regionals:

                      ADF beat the Alaskan champs.
                      0PFC lost to Hawaii Rush.

Both teams now with one win, one loss. Win tomorrow, probably on to the quarterfinals. Lose tomorrow, hope the hotel rooms are refundable.

I think that they are using ELO ratings, which are fairly accurate with a good data set. Trouble is, the data set is not very good, as there simply aren't enough games to make a good judgment given the number of teams.

Got soccer awards ratings points for qualifying tournaments.

ADF moves on to quarterfinals at regionals.

0PFC is going home after a draw on the final day, and they might be whining about the tiebreakers. (And they might have a point).

Three teams finished atop the group with identical 1-1-1 records. Only two could advance. (The fourth team, from Arizona, finished with three draws; the top three teams each drew the AZ team, beat another top 3 team, and lost to a top 3 team).

One had a better goal differential than the other two, and was declared the group winner.

The other two were 0PFC and a Vegas team. They finished tied on goal differential; next tiebreaker was apparently goals against; 0PFC allowed five goals whereas the Vegas team allowed four. Vegas moves on, 0PFC is done.

The thing which will annoy 0PFC is that they beat the Vegas team 3-1. But head-to-head results are ignored, apparently, in a 3-way tiebreaker (the Vegas team beat the group winner, and the group winner beat 0PFC). But even though goal differential was able to remove one team from the tie, leaving two teams left to decide between, they didn't then "restart" with head-to-head, but instead proceeded to goals-against.

It's annoying yet commonplace they can't do enough to just win and advance. Boring.

And to add insult to injury Opfc gave up that goal to nv to make that game final score 3-1 in the last 30 seconds of the game….I am sure it will haunt them for awhile but I will say they played well and had a much more difficult schedule than adf- Idaho (Boise timbers) and Alaska were not very good in comparison to Hawaii Arizona and the other NV team in opfc’s bracket. Updx has a few teams moving along as well..
