Okay CNN, settle down. Game was a forfeit approx 5 minutes into the match. Cuervos coach was kicked out for exceesive arguing and foul language following a couple hard, stupid fouls by the Crows. Ref then kicked out the assistant coach and called the game when he also began to hurl F-Bombs at the ref. I can accurately report that in the approximate 5 minutes of game time, OPFC possessed the ball 100% of the time. After seeing all of the teams play, I would rank OPFC only slightly ahead of ADF. Followed closely by Eugene, FCP Navy, Salmon Creek, CFC and then Cascade. All this to say that Westside will dominate in the winter league. Looking forward to it!

That really happen? I would expect a score of 3-0 to be reported if there was a forfeit.

                Easy there Vicki.

5 minutes into the game Cuervos coaches managed to get themselves kicked out and guess what, game over.

Completely and utterly f***ing embarrassing display by Cuervos coaches today.

Wouldn’t have mattered, they were done either way.

FC Portland - do tell what happened here? OPFC can’t seem to respond how they tied Minnow Creek. Maybe you can do better?

FC Portland was up 2-0 and things seemed as if it would end that way or maybe even 3-0, but then there was an obvious hand ball penalty called against FC Portland and Salmon Creek concerted the pk. About 10 minutes later there was another pk awarded to Salmon Creek for excessive contact in the box on a corner kick (I didn’t see it, but that does not mean it didn’t happen). Salmon Creek converted the pk and then time ran out in a 2-2 tie. On to pk’s; Salmon Creek went 1st on converted. The Salmon Creek goal keeper (he is very good by the way) saved two out of the first three FC Portland pk’s and it was over.

Ah, another case of gotsoccer not reporting a shootout correctly.

Who was in goal for FC?

Under the general assumption that U15s are mostly done for the summer, with high school tryouts, ODP, and other things like that--here's a quick end-of-summer top ten. Timbers Academy is not on this list; the two Vancouver teams (FCSC and WashT are) even though they will not be playing OYSA in fall or winter.

                            1) ADF. Finalist in State Cup, Finalist at Clash, Semi-finalist at Crossfire Challenge, won Mt. Hood Cup.

The F-Bombs sneak into the top spot by a nose. After a disappointing result in the state cup final, and a heartbreaking loss to you-know-who in Clash, ADF wins the Mt. Hood Challenge in impressive fashion, allowing only a single goal (in the final, a rematch with OTFC that went to kicks). Losses to top Seattle teams will not be held against them. Only one loss to a local 05 team this season, to the #2 team on this list.

                            2) Westside. 2nd in DA league, winner of Clash, 3rd in Beaverton Cup, finalist in Oswego Nike Cup (04 gold).

Steven's crew has an equally impressive resume--one tourney win, another finals appearance (in an 04 tournament at that), and also only one loss to a local 05 team. Plus, they beat ADF in their head-to-head matchup. Losses to the PCU 04s will likewise not be held against them--they were playing with house money there. Why are they in the second slot? Guest players--it remains to be seen if this team can score goals without TA kids up top. Defensively, they look solid yet again. But replacing ML's boot will be a tall order.

                            3) ETFC. Winner of State Cup, eliminated in group stage at USYSA Regionals, finalist in Mt. Hood Challenge.

Yoogene wasn't quite as busy as the other teams on this list--going to Regionals will do that to you. Their performance in regionals won't be held against them; and ETFC looked good at Mt. Hood Challenge, before losing a shootout to ADF.

                            4) OPFC. 1st in DA league, semifinalist in Crossfire Challenge, consolation in Mt. Hood Challenge.

The Team Formerly Known as Crossfire started off well, convincingly winning the 05 DA league and doing well up in Seattle--losses to PacNW and The Team Still Known As Crossfire notwithstanding. Reportedly went abroad for a few weeks. But then they played in their own tournament and got exposed a bit--they seem to have trouble breaking down teams that park the bus. Still a dangerous team, and one shouldn't place too much stock in summer tournaments, but the past weekend has to have been a disappointment.

                            5) Washington Timbers. 3rd in DA league, semifinalist in Clash, did not advance in Crossfire Challenge.

Another team that gets a small demerit for a guest player (GS), but had a decent summer. Was placed in the Group of Death at Crossfire, so didn't get to play on Monday. A class team, we wish them well in BECNL this fall.

                            6) FC Salmon Creek. Quarterfinalist in State Cup, consolation in Clash, semifinalist at Crossfire Challenge (B bracket), 3rd in Mt. Hood.

Had a shaky start to the summer in Clash, where they were stingy on defense but ineffective on offense. Had a nice run in Crossfire Challenge (though in the second division), and took down three DA teams at Mt. Hood Challenge on the way to a 3rd place finish. Possibly the best 05 GK around (who just won a shootout against AK), and a skilled and disciplined defend-and-counter team. Playing PSPL in the fall, which might not offer them enough of a challenge.

                            7) FC Portland. 5th in DA league, last in Beaverton Cup, 4th in Mt. Hood Challenge.

FC still seems to be suffering from the loss of quite a few players to TA. Like Salmon Creek, a dangerous team with excellent goalkeeping. Also have one of the most dangerous goal-scorers around in AP. But still have not replaced TE in the midfield, and seem to struggle against teams not named Westside.

                            8) Cuervos FC. Last at Clash, finalist in Beaverton Cup, sixth at Mt Hood Challenge.

At their best, a dangerous team that can play with anyone. At their worst, a bunch of loose cannons that are an embarrassment to local youth soccer. Misbehaved in the finals of Beaverton Cup, reportedly did the same at Mt. Hood. In danger of not having any tournaments to play in next year.

                            9) Capitol FC. 4th at Beaverton Cup, 7th in Mt. Hood.

Lost quite a few players to TA at the beginning of the year. Poor defensively, gave up four goals to FCSC, which should not happen. Might not even be the best team in Salem, though 4H didn't make any tournament appearances at the 05 age so it's hard to say.

                            10) United PDX. No local play.

Were at the bottom of the DA standings last year, but have reportedly picked up a whole bunch of ex-TA kids (the bulk of the Slytherins, plus a pair of ex-WT kids who are no longer with TA). That alone should improve UPDX, but until we actually see them play, 10th is as high as they go in this poll.

                              Good breakdown.

It will be interesting to see how the fall league shapes up once all the TA guest players are no longer helping out. It has been well documented on TS that Westside had ML & RF helping out. Cuervos had the services of JB & RTR. ADF had EH and a couple of others with them.

Well, I don't think there will be much if any Fall Leagues, aside from high school. There may be a few "trapped 2005" 8th graders, but they are the exception and not the norm. No fall league, just winter league in January.
