LAFC and Surf and Quakes have “special” 05s. Oregon does not.

My point is just that if you take away goals scored off free kicks (which smaller keepers just can’t physically get to at their age) and penalty kicks, he is just as mediocre as the rest. Very few goals have been scored by breaking down the defense.

Agreed! Hopefully he develops a right foot, not just for shooting but dribbling as well. I have seen him disappear in games when the defense overplays his left and forces him right.he just doesn’t have anything more than a touch or two max before he has to stop or try to return to his left.

Is ML one of the best players in Oregon DA? Certainly, and a worthy selection to TA.

Is his game flawless? Certainly not.

But then, nobody in Oregon DA is a top pro prospect. And as the man said, it's a long way to the top if you wanna rock and roll.

Nobody from Oregon in the DA is a pro prospect- that includes all on the TA roster. Just wondering how he will enjoy practicing and seeing very little of the field on game day...

Better question is how many current players will be coming back to local clubs after their glorious year of practice sessions and being training cones. This is the year TA has typically replaced local youth with “outsiders”.....

Not at U15. A few slytherins were finally expelled from Hogwarts, but they are being replaced with other local players at this point. Don't expect to see out-of-state imports until U17, and many not until U19--bringing in outside players is simply far easier when they become legal adults and can simply be told to go find an apartment, rather than needing to be boarded or hosted somewhere, with a babysitter making sure they limit their Fortnite and eat their veggies.

Will be interesting to see who shows up at U15 tryouts next week.

Have not heard. He has been near the top of the scoring list the last two years ,but fails to advance to TA. Their could be several reasons why.

Not coachable?
Can't create own shot?
Are most goals just gimmees (opportunistic)?
Game doesn't translate to what they are looking for?

I am not saying that these are his issues because I do not know him, but these are the sort of things that could hinder a "call up" to TA.

Don't know about the coachable part, and I can't speak for TA.. but AP certainly can create his own shot, and his goals aren't all gimmes. But even scoring a lot of gimmes is not a bad thing--you have to beat the defense to get a gimme, and being in position to take an open shot or even tap it in at the far post is a skill.

Without a ton of skill development and soccer IQ growth, GS will be lost in the fold. He is nothing more than a kid who is faster than others at this point, and has very little soccer skill and that does not work in Seattle and CA where several kids are bigger faster and more skilled. Not saying he is not a good kid or cannot learn (actually heard he is a good kid from wa timbers parents) but is very limited skill wise at this point. What is disappointing to me is that wa timbers completely changed their style, abandoned playing out of the back and a motion and passing based approach (developing soccer players) to an over the top kick it long in hopes that GS and MS can outrun opposing defenders- they went chasing victories

If I had to choose between AP from FC or ML from westside I would take AP EVERY time. No comparison, I would take AP over 3/4 of the existing TA roster....
