Recap soon.
A fierce wind blew throughout this one. In the first half, the wind was at the backs of the home team, and Westside had the better of possession, but mostly came up empty. Their lone score in the first frame came loose on a breakaway when BJ got loose on the left side, beat everyone down the field, and put it past the keeper into the side netting. It looked like it would be 1-0 heading into the break but just before the whistle, GS managed to get loose behind the defense, recover after a last-ditch tackle, and slot it past the keeper. 1-1 at the break.
In the second half, Washington had the wind advantage, and they took the lead almost immediately, when a loose ball fell to an unmarked GS in the box and he buried the gimme. It looked like the visitors might score another, as they were able to mount sustained pressure against Westside, but Westside's defense held from that point on. Halfway through, WT found the equalizer when they worked the ball to ML at the top of the box, who beat a few defenders and put it past the keeper. With a few minutes left, ML would get the assist on the winner, crossing to BJ at the far post who tapped it in. WashT had a few chances in the final minutes but did not convert, and the whistle blew. Final 3-2 to Westside.
All in all, a fun, well-played game by both teams. The combination of GS and MS makes WashT a very dangerous offensive team; even though MS did not score he gave Westside all sorts of fits on the left side. As for WT, they had the passing game working well in this one despite the wind, and created all sorts of danger in front of Washington's goal.
The loss will make it very hard for WashT to "win" the league, as Westside needs only three more points to clinch a better finish. The two teams have more more meeting this season, up at Harmony. Next week, WashT has a rematch against OPFC, who will no doubt be looking to avenge last week's 5-2 defeat. Westside has two games, against FC on Saturday and UPDX on Sunday.

According to the DA website...
FC 4, UPDX 1. Brace for AP, goals for FW, TN. JGP converts a penalty for UPDX. http://www.ussoccerda.com/sam/standi...teamId=7426477
Crossfire 5, CFC 3. Hat trick for RA, goals for AB and MP. For CFC, goals for AJS, TO, MY.

18 total goals scored across three games. Wow.

Actually, all four 05 semifinalists would probably finish mid-table in the DA, or at least beat UPDX.

Only way any of those teams makes it to “mid table” is if there are 12 teams just like it used to be before DA a few years ago....
But that kind of puts them in the lower middle of the table. When the "table" is only six teams, one slot makes a difference.
