0-0 at the half. FC out playing and dominating Crossfire as predicted. Who's your Daddy?

Yep, you knew it was coming as soon as you posted this.

Whatever. The better team did not win. Crossfire, looked slow, disorganized and sloppy. They have a lot of weak links, and are beatable. Honestly, I did not think they would score despite having a lot of chances. What happened to AB? Not a factor at all.

So what was the final? And anyone have the score from the prison yard? (And did UPDX parents have to pay for parking, or was that a one-time deal just for Westside?)

Stop trying to justify yourself, let it be and find some pride in yourself and just enjoy wherever your son plays....

Hahaha are you serious? Your only offense is to try and kick it long game was completely one sided and your lone goal came in garbage time when you were down 2-0.. you keep up the charade and maybe everyone will believe you...

Final was 2-1 and crossfire had atleast 5 chances that they missed when 1v1 with the goalie. And numerous other chances. FC maybe put a real shot on frame 2 or 3 times all game (including the goal in garbage time) and how much home cooking from the ref do you need? If crossfire is slow, disorganized and full of weak links what does that make you FC? Blowhards with a false sense of self??? Record is now crossfire up 2-nil on you this year, might want to shut your cakehole...

                            Recap of Westside vs WashT.

In the first half, MS did not play for WashT for some reason--it looked like he might have arrived late to the match and gotten benched for the infraction. At any rate, Westside controlled possession through most of the match and was getting lots of action in WashT's third--but (broken record time) didn't score. Some of this was poor finishing, but a lot of this was good play by WashT's keeper and centerbacks, who were quite busy. Late in the first half, WashT got a big break, when a foul was called on Westside just outside their own penalty area. Washington's free kick hit the bar, bounced off the Westside keeper's back, and went into the goal. Technically (I'm certain) an own goal charged to Westside, which is a bit of a shame because it was a well-hit DFK and the poor goalie could do little about it. First half ended with the home team down a goal.

Second half, MS came in. You know that scene in the beginning of _Captain America: The Winter Soldier_, when Sam Wilson (aka Falcon) is jogging around the reflecting pool in Washington DC, and kept getting lapped by Steve Rogers? That's how it probably felt to be MS tonight, as Westside's two speedy centerbacks, particularly AH, ran him down with ease and kept taking the ball away whenever he got loose. While Westside's back line can be bullied by big and fast players, small and fast they can handle quite well, and MS' only contribution this game was a dangerous tackle from behind on the other centerback that got nowhere near the ball and probably should have gotten him booked at the very least. (Ref did give him a lecture, but kept his cards in his pocket). At any rate, WT continued to dominate possession in the second half, and got two goals, one on a header off of a cross, the other IIRC on a corner. Game was delayed about five minutes for a WashT injury in the second half.

I will give WashT's coach some props--he did demonstrate a single-minded commitment to playing out of the back, even though Westside assisted with the lesson by eagerly pressuring. And there were numerous goal kicks taken from the Washington end. One on goal kick, the kick had to be re-taken twice because Westside players kept infringing the penalty area before the ball was touched by another player.

But despite the one-goal margin in the final score, make no mistake: Westside administered a rather thorough crap-kicking this evening. Matchups often make the difference--like Westside, WashT is more of a finesse team than one that tries to physically dominate you. WashT easily took care of a CFC team that ran wild up Westside's gut, after all. But Westside has gotten the better of the matchup of late. And while I'm not the TA honk--I will say this: Had the WashT squad that showed up at MVCP tonight instead shown up three miles to the east, at King Street--the Academy would have crushed them like a beer can. Perhaps a big physical team like Crossfire could push the TA around, but WashT is simply not in the same league, physically or technically. (Nor is WT, but we never claim otherwise).

                              Game report is here: http://www.ussoccerda.com/sam/standi...teamId=7526458

It looks like the WashT goal was credited to the WashT player who took the free kick, rather than scored as an own goal. (For those who like to keep track of such things).
